Software Updates Week 34 2008

Week 34 was rather uneventful in terms of software updates. It was one of the week’s of 2008 with a lower than usual amount of software updates. Many applications in the list are the usual suspects that get updated regularly. Some developers are doing this on purpose for fresh listings at various software portals.

Some of the more remarkable updates are the first release candidate of Opera 9.6, itunes 8 and Orbit Download 2.75 but the update award goes to AIMP 2.5 this time.

AIMP is a music player for Windows that comes with several interesting features, for example the ability to listen to and capture Internet Radio streams, the ability to capture sound devices directly or extensive skin and plugin support.

• Adobe Reader Lite 9.0 Revision 2 - Adobe Reader without the bloat.
• Aim 6.0 Ad Hack 5.56 - Removes ads from AOL Instant Messenger.
• AIMP 2.5 Build 293 RC3 - The Opera of the music players. AIMP deserves more attention from the mainstream because it is an excellent music player with lots of interesting features.
• Avant Browser 11.7 Build 7 - A custom web browser based on the Internet Explorer core.
• BurnAware Free 2.1.2 - A CD burning software that supports CD, DVD, Blu-Ray and the most common burning tasks.
• Fresh UI 8.14 - A Windows tweaker that can configure and optimize various settings of the operating system.
• iTunes 8 - Another new version of iTunes, bigger and not necessarily better.
• KMPlayer 2.9.3.1432 R2 Beta - An universal media player that can play most video and audio formats without having to install codecs first.
• NVIDIA BIOS Editor 4.5a - A tool for advanced users to tweak the Bios of their NVIDIA video cards.
• Office 2000/XP/2003/2007 Slipstreamer 1.7.1 - Can be used to create a slipstreamed version of Microsoft Office meaning an installation version that contains all the patches, security updates and additions that have been released until then.
• Opera 9.60 RC1 - The first release candidate of Opera 9.60.
• Orbit Downloader 2.7.5 - A powerful download manager that was designed to be compatible with many music and video portals on the Internet.
• ProduKey 1.32 - Scans the computer for Microsoft related product keys and displays them.
• QuickTime Alternative 2.7.0 - An alternative to installing Apple’s Quicktime Software.
• Real Alternative 1.8.4 - An alternative to Real Media’s Realplayer.
• SIW 2008-09-03 - System Information for Windows is a tool that displays hardware, software and system related information.
• SUMo 2.3.2.58 - The Software Update MOnitor scans your system for out of date software and presents links to download the latest versions of the software.
• VirtualBox 2.0.0 - An Open-Source multi-plattform virtualizer.
• Wireshark 1.0.3 - A multi-plattform network protocol analyzer.
• Xfire 1.97 - Dubbed the gamer’s Instant Messenger. Communicate with friends and see which games they are currently playing.
