Download everything from Microsoft without WGA Check

When you want to download a file from Microsoft a WGA (windows genuine advantage) check is performed. Microsoft installs a small piece of software on your computer that contacts the Microsoft server and checks for validity. If the test fails you will not be able to download the file(s). This is extremely frustrating especially if you have a system that is legit.

The method that was described below is no longer working and has therefor been removed from this server.

Where do I find the dowload center code? under what tab is it? Sort of lost. Would really appreciate some help, thanks

PS Sorry if i am being ignorant, i ve read though the article a few times and i still cant figure it out.

  2. jackal says:

Its still working i just downloaded using this method….thanx allot mate..got to go now, must download the stuff till it lasts :)

  3. Martin says:

You are right, it is working again..

  4. Martin says:

erik, you will have to redownload the software. Microsoft seemed to have changed the version on the download that I first listed but I found the right version at a different location.

Redownload mgadiag.exe and you will see the code in the first tab.

  5. “Microsoft confidential. Do not distribute.”

    Brilliant!

This one is going on all my USB flash drives ;)

  6. erik says:

thanks for the help, martin! really appreciate it.

  7. AssTelescope says:

You silly people, just use Autopatcher to install updates…sheesh, have you nothing better to do than think your doing some sort of 1337 hacking?

  8. gw says:

    its not working today

  9. Ed H. says:

If only this worked on non-Windows OSes… I use Linux and OS X as my primary OSes, but my job is supporting WIndows. It would be nice to be able to download the latest updates to my USB flash drives without having to go over to a Windows machine… (Or does this work in WINE?)

  10. Priyank Bolia says:

I couldn’t find the value 6VJPCR9 in the tool, where do you find that.

  11. Nano Surbakti says:

    Ed H.,
You should see this funny story: http://www.bit-tech.net/news/2005/08/08/Linux_OK_WGA/
I got the news from slashdot
    Cheers!

  12. Priyank Bolia says:

its seems microsoft has patched it.

  13. The Passenger says:

I follow the instructions but it won’t work. Is it patched?

    Can anybody confirm?

  14. Martin says:

It seems that you need a valid product id in first place to see the correct download center code..

  15. Dave says:

    Is this a trojan hoax?

  16. Mistere says:

I downloaded it and ran it. The Sygatge firewall alarmed. Apparently the current downloadable version of mgadiag.exe phones home :-(

  17. Bobby says:

This one is running great ………….. !

  18. Martin says:

Mistere this tool needs to connect to ms to recieve the new code.

  19. ricecraka says:

No more worky. Maybe because im using a cracked copy of XP?

  20. Grate Stuff says:

    I ran this:::

    wine ~/crapware/MGADiag.exe

Apart from the “unsupported operating system” diagnostic, it worked.

    8P8H8DB

Why do they have this thing about the number 8, is it lucky or something???

  21. Lanky393 says:

i get a different download centre code, Tw8l6dc for the 6th insted of 8P8H8DB anybody have any ideas why?
    thanks in advance

  22. Martin says:

I think only legit windows users recieve a legit code, all others recieve wrong ones. That’s my theory, not sure if it is true though..

  23. Martin says:

8P8H8DB is todays correct code btw.

  24. Martin says:

It seems that most programs perform an additional check at installation. It is not possible to use the url hack to sneak past this check as well.

  25. Dito says:

You don’t need the small APP, you just need a valid code. Every time you need to download something use a VALID code and it will let you in.

The app is to generate a code, but it only works on a “Genuine” windows, so if you don’t have it, don’t use it. Just copy a PASTE a valid code into the “Alterante Validation Test” page.

  26. Slick WIllie says:

    Nice!

  27. Actually mgadiag.exe is just an alternative way provided by MS for checking if the Windows is licensed or not. One can also get a link to download this file if your activex installation for checking authenticity, fail!

Even mgadiag.exe will perform a similar operation as that of WGA by contacting MS and will succeed only in case of genuine windows.

  28. Grate Stuff says:

read message 26, I dont run winders. I got a code from wine, the Linux windows application layer. I did that just to see what would happen. Somebody else says the code returned is legit
However it fails to get a product key and the
“Windows OS version: 5.0.2195.2.00010000.4.0.pro” is a bit out.
Me, I doubt that I am getting a legit code.

  29. Robert Lore says:

so how do you get XP SP2 ? then

  30. Justin says:

    didnt work:(

  31. Justin says:

it didnt show the “genunine microsoft software” it jus retunred to the same page

  32. miguel says:

    dont use the quotes
    e.g.
    append: &Hash=S3G9LND

  33. David says:

    Works for me.

  34. The Passenger says:

I tried Miguel’s code and it worked.

I am on an illegal Windows and MGADiag gives me another code. The MGADiag code doesn’t work

This proves that you need a legal version of Windows, like somebody above suggested, to get the right code.

  35. jackal9 says:

i don’t have a legit copy but it still works for me

  36. Charly says:

Anybody knows a way to bypass the validation during INSTALLATION? For example during the installation of Windows Media Player 11 beta 2, or Internet Explorer 7, etc.

  37. Jercro says:

The only problem now is that the new IE 7 b1 will not install on non WGA versions of WindowsXP Pro even with the fixes available.

  38. Gemini says:

I managed to download and install SP2 on my version (witch isn’t legit) and it works fine =) this fix works wonders

  39. MB1_618 says:

Installation of Windows Media Player 11 beta 2

    1. Extract (unrar, unzip) wmp11-windowsxp-x86-enu.exe to the new folder
    2. RUN wmfdist11.exe
    3. RESTART your COMPUTER
    4. RUN wmp11.exe
    5. RESTART your COMPUTER
    6. Start Windows Media Player 11 !

  40. alex says:

no dice! it doesn`t work on a unlicensed copy of
    windows…too bad

  41. mark says:

  43. Jason says:

  44. charly says:

  45. Joe says:

Hmm I guess this is patch already lol NOT working

  46. BobAndJon says:

    Ya seems to be patched.

  47. KEES says:

    Works for me.
IE7 b3 will not install on non WGA
    How to validate?

  48. mark says:

keep looking the answer is out there.. lol

  49. Anon says:

A way to bypass the test when installing software (eg. IE7) is to get a new key from a keygen, and then install the software while not connected to the internet – it will try to phone home to check the new key, but since the phone home fails it will allow installation to continue (not everyone has internet remember)

If you don’t change the key it will most likely have already phoned home to check the key and already know it’s false, although there is a trick somewhere to make it “forget” it. (maybe the c:\documents and settings\username\application data\microsoft\windows genuine advantage\data.dat file?)
