Android 12 Easter Egg - a Sneak Preview of Material You
As with every new version of Android, it’s never complete without an easter egg surprise, and Android 12 doesn't disappoint. Although we’re still waiting for the release of Android 12, we’ve received a glimpse of the easter egg.
Although a lot can still change between now and the official release, the team at 9to5Google shared this peek at the easter egg, and although not quite as sparkly as Android 11’s Neko Cat game, it does a lot to highlight Android 12’s visually appealing feature.
More about the easter egg itself, it would appear to revolve heavily around Material You. The surprise takes advantage of the most recent Material You updates by adding a pop of color.
So, how can you find this easter egg in the Android 12 release? There’ll be a timer on your home screen indicating when the easter egg will be ready. Once it is, you will have to access your phone’s settings. Now navigate to ‘About Phone’ and go to the ‘Android Version’.
Once here, you have to tap on the 12 repeatedly. By doing this, a Material You-themed clock that is color-matched to your wallpaper will appear on your screen. This is the same clock design that Google has shown off in many Android 12 and Material You promotions over the last couple of months.
This is where the interactive element of the easter egg comes into play. You have to spin the hands of the clock to reach 12 o’clock exactly. As soon as you get the right time, your screen will erupt with the Android 12 logo as well as a sea of circles matching the color of your wallpaper.
This easter egg is not currently available in the just-released 3.1 beta. Hopefully, we won’t have to wait too long for the release to see if there is more to this easter egg.

The recent preview of the Android 12 easter egg seems to focus on the visual characteristics by highlighting one of Android 12’s biggest features: taking advantage of Material You colors.
