Bulk File Changer is a free program for the Windows operating system to change file date and time, and attributes in bulk.
The Windows operating system stores file attribute and file time information for each file on connected storage devices.
File attributes are for instance read-only or hidden flags that can have an impact on file operations.
The date and time a file was created, modified and accessed are also stored for each file on Windows machines.
While that is the case, they do not usually have such a high impact on file operations. They may however be used by backup and sync software for instance to determine whether files have changed since the last operation.
Bulk File Changer is a new portable Nirsoft software program that replaces Nirsoft's File Date Changer application.
It comes with the full functionality of that application plus some additional features that have been added by Nir Sofer.
Files can be loaded into the program by using the file browser (F2) or the folder loader (F3). The former can be used to select specific files from one directory; the latter supports adding files from a root directory and subdirectories as well.
All files are then displayed with their filename, full path, modified, created and accessed time, file size and attributes.
Some or all files can be selected for modification. File attributes and file dates can be changed easily by clicking on the Change file time / attributes button or pressing the F6 button. It is possible to change the values individually which is another new feature of this new program.
The menu displays file date and time customization options in the upper half of the editing screen. Simply select one, two or all three of the date and time values there to modify them. You may set the date and time individually, or use the "add" command to add time to the current value.
You may also use the "copy time from" option to copy time from one variable to another.
File attributes on the other hand enable you to change archive, read-only, temporary, hidden, and system attributes individually. Besides leaving the value unchanged, you may turn a flag on or off, or switch it instead.
A click on the "do it" button starts the operation, while "save settings" saves the input so that it gets loaded the next time you open the editing window.
The usual Nirsoft reporting and export features are provided. The software can be downloaded from the Nirsoft website. It is compatible with all 32-bit and 64-bit editions of the Windows operating system.Advertisement
