It is not often that I go on holidays. This can be mainly attributed to the fact that my work and spare time balance was leaning towards lots of work and not so much spare time. This is going to change and it is starting tomorrow with a seven day trip to Jerusalem. I just want to let everyone know that I prepared some articles in advance and will probably find the time to update the website with a few articles each day as the hotel where I'm staying is providing free broadband Internet to their guests. I'm taking my new Acer laptop with me and I'm thinking of updating Ghacks in the evenings after visiting the interesting sights of the city during the day.
I just want everyone to know that in advance so that no one thinks I'm dead or decided to stop updating the website. The other authors will continue with their usual schedule. If you have any tips or ideas for the trip let me know. I already got some great advice from Dotan for which I will be forever grateful.
I will go on at least two additional trips this year and plan to do about six in the coming years to find some time to relax and see the places that I always wanted to visit. I'm off now packing my suitcase and doing some final preparations for my departure tomorrow morning.
Advertising revenue is falling fast across the Internet, and independently-run sites like Ghacks are hit hardest by it. The advertising model in its current form is coming to an end, and we have to find other ways to continue operating this site.
We are committed to keeping our content free and independent, which means no paywalls, no sponsored posts, no annoying ad formats (video ads) or subscription fees.

Ghacks is a technology news blog that was founded in 2005 by Martin Brinkmann. It has since then become one of the most popular tech news sites on the Internet with five authors and regular contributions from freelance writers.
