Mozilla Add-On collections are collections of add-ons that have been created by users or by Mozilla. These add-on collections are displayed on the Mozilla website. They are usually themed and provide an overview of add-ons for specific niches like downloading files, adding security or changing the appearance of the web browser. What they do not offer is an easy way to install several or even all of the add-ons at once.
It is either possible to install the add-ons individually on the collection’s page at the Mozilla website or, after subscribing to them – which requires a Mozilla account – in the subscriptions tab in the add-on manager of the Internet browser.
It feels only natural that collections would have an option to be installed completely or in batch. This option would for instance come handy to install all add-ons deemed necessary in one go in a new Firefox installation.
Massive Extender is a brand new add-on that adds batch capabilities to the Mozilla Add-On Collector. The add-on collector needs to be installed for this to work. A user account at the Mozilla website is also required as add-on collections need to be subscribed to appear in the subscriptions tab in the add-on manager.

All add-ons of a collection are selected for mass installation and activation by default. It is possible to uncheck some of the add-ons so that they are not installed with the rest of the add-ons. The number of extensions that will be installed or activated are displayed in the header of the subscription window.
A click on the Installation button will display a menu to install or uninstall the selected add-ons or all of them.

Massive Extender makes it very easy to install multiple add-ons in one go. It could be an excellent companion for users who maintain their own add-on collection at Mozilla and install it regularly on computer systems. The add-on is compatible with all Firefox 3 to Firefox 3.6 releases.
