To be sure, search engine syntax is useful, but to call this information “hacking” is a little bit much for me. I wouldn’t even call it advanced knowledge given that the operators are listed on Google’s own site. Most people just don’t bother to teach themselves how to use the tool completely. It’s a bit like $150 calculators. Those things can solve very intricate mathematics problems involving integration and such and yet everyone only use them to do multiplication and graph linear equations.

The “AND” operator is unnecessary — we include all search terms by default.

Dustin you are right, this is more of a filesearch tip thank a hack per se. The tool we released is nevertheless able to use google for hacking using johnnys database and your own additions. If you have not give it a try ;)

thanks google for the comment, will change the article accordingly.

Everyone claiming to have a new method to find media using the “index of” method is a liar. This method was first described allready in July 2004 at breakingwindows.com:
http://tinyurl.com/6n98h

My bookmarklet, created to simplify this searching process, is also from 2004. You can use it here:

This has been done before. Look at Jophhny hack stuff. This is so last year.
It’s been done to find PDF’s . covi camera’s, xls, and a million other things.

Find something original.

GraphicArtist2k5 says, October 11th, 2005

That’s a decent way to see if someone else is sharing stuff on their servers, but it’s not a way to find full movies at all, or at least I haven’t found any yet. Oh well, guess I’ll stick to downl…..I mean, BUYING movies on DVD…..yeah, that’s what I meant to say…..:p

GSecur says, October 11th, 2005

To all those that say this isn’t hacking. What exactly do you feel is hacking? Hacking is nothing more then using the tool beyond what the normal user would. Which in this case he has. All the items in the Johny I hack site are the same premise. These example just help you modify the way you think, nothing more. No reason to be negative.

And if you want much more google tips then this guy has been doing it for years……..and he has just about every combination.

I typed the Claudia Schiffer example and found 18 hits. Some sites were dead, some sites redirected me. On the sites I opened, I located six jpgs, but two of the jpgs were pics of another woman.

It may not be the best way to find pictures of Claudia Schiffer, but it’s a cool general technique. [I didn't know about "inurl:"].

Administrator says, October 11th, 2005

well you actually should find 33 :)

Claudia Schiffer was only an example, i will post some additional stuff tomorrow, but pst. thats still top secret ;P

Apparently most of those who commented on this page don’t know the definiation of hacking.

Thanks GSecur.

The people who are making the comment that this isn’t “hacking”, need to get out of hte l33t kewl OMG! scr1pt k1dd13 mentality. This is hacking in it’s purist forms, this is exploration.

This is not trying to get a password for some p0rn site so you can close your door and touch yourself without your mommy finding out.

Mary says, October 12th, 2005

Well, the heck with so many of you. I learned something new today and I appreciate that!

moot says, October 13th, 2005

Thanks for this post, I learned some useful stuff.

BUT

to the people who think this is hacking - Hacking means: “using a system beyond its design”. This is using the designed features in an advanced (and cool) way, but it’s not hacking.
