Buy Windows 8 Pro: digital download for €59.99?
We already know that Microsoft will make available Windows 8 upgrades for $39.99 regardless of the version of Windows XP, Vista or Windows 7 that is the upgrade being bought for. And while this appears to be a promotional offer that is valid until January 2013, it is likely that upgrade prices won't increase much afterwards.
Customers who bought an eligible PC with Windows 7 get an upgrade opportunity for $14.99 or even for free, depending on the PC that they have purchased.
What we did not know yet was how much Microsoft would be charging for retail copies of the operating system. While many assumed that the price would be below $100, no one knew how much below it would turn out to be. A leaked screenshot now suggests that Microsoft will charge €59.99 for a digital Windows 8 Pro version. If you convert the Euro price into Dollar you end up with roughly $75 if Microsoft is using current exchange courses. It can very well be that customers from the US will pay less than that, as it is quite common that US retail prices are converted 1:1 to Euro.

The €59.99 get you a Windows 8 Pro product key and digital download of the operating system. If you want a Windows DVD on top of that, you'd have to pay another €14.99 for shipping and handling, which is about $19 US Dollars.
The legitimacy of the screenshot has not been yet verified by Microsoft, and it is unlikely that the company will do so. For now though, that is all the information we have. And while some of the texts appear unfinished on the screen, it could very well be the price you can buy Windows 8 Pro for.

Seem some are paid to pass disparaging remarks about this new wonderful OS. Of course, as everything else it will mature with age. But for Microsoft to have taken the innovative step, they deserve at least a commendation; and maybe the clairvoyant sees the potential and feel it better to kill it preconception. Anyway, I’ve been using the preview on my PC since it release and find it refreshingly different.I sold in.

Can’t wait to buy it and have the latest and greatest. The prices quoted are fair.
I’ve been running the Preview on my desktop since it came out and I just don’t know why there is a full hate-on in these comments. Are people really using Win 8 and taking the time to learn how to use the changes and enhancements? Sometimes I think they just regurgitate what they read.
For instance, I never even see the Metro UI after I log on, the dozen or so programs I use the most are on my desktop taskbar, where they have always been, and the utilities I need are on my Windows Commander button bar, where I need them. And, like everyone else, the rest of my time is spent in the browser of choice. I don’t even notice that I am in Win 8 anymore, except when I choose to. I never want to give up SkyDrive integration or File History for example, they have made life so much simpler (less Robocopy scripts!).
I want to remind people that change, if embraced, can lead to great progress. In this case, it is a first and inevitable step towards a seamless and continuous user experience across all mobile devices. Resist all you want, but it will happen. I can’t wait to ditch my goofy Android mess for the clean Ui of Metro.
For gawds sake, I remember when no one would use a mouse, and when there were no ATMs! Sheesh, enough whining already…
That’s too much for Windows B8A Windows RT and Windows Phone 7/8 apps aren’t compatible and are in fact separate platforms. How can you consider this product line anything but Beta?? There’s no benefit to putting this on a desktop!

It took just 2 days, and Windows 8 activation has been cracked bypassing Microsoft’s KMS serves, so why pay $69.99 or €59.99 ?
Anyway, Windows 8/RT is blocked from sale in EU until Microsoft answer to EU’a investigations regarding Metro browser ballot screen, blocking Metro API from third-party, and including anti-virus app in Windows 8.
+1 to bill. At home I only use Windows for gaming or when I “have” to use Office. Been using Linux since RH5. Now that I use VirtualBox, I usually just run Windows in there. My Windows machine only gets turned on when I want to play a game.
