Facebook has come in for a huge amount of criticism this year over issues such as privacy and the complexity of their user controls. Now the social networking giant has sent out mystery press-invites for an event tomorrow, according to neowin.
According to the invite, this “news event” will be held at the company’s headquarters where “Facebook executives will provide an update on the service’s features and products.”
So what could this mean? Almost certainly there’ll be talk about privacy as Facebook will be seeking to reassure the press and public that they’re taking their legal obligations seriously. Neowin also speculate that they could be ready to announce their new long-awaited “location-based product that will allow Facebook users to share their location with their friends and family.”
Facebook have also been testing a new social search facility so this could also be on the agenda. Finally there could be talk about a possible move, or at least a roadmap for a move to the new HTML5 standard. With new browsers from Mozilla, Google, Apple and Microsoft all supporting it when they launch, an announcement now would give app developers time to ready themselves for the move.
We’ll keep you updated about the event and what they have to say about the privacy of your personal details and information.
