How to view deleted Youtube Videos

Will the companies never learn ? How much sense does it make to keep a video that was deleted at youtube on the hard drive ? Youtube apparently does this with some videos and it is possible to call them directly using a nice script that I found at delutube. The system for the end user is pretty straightforward. You supply a id of an youtube video that has been deleted and the site tries to pull it from youtube and display it in a viewer.

It also adds download possibilities which is a nice add-on. A second possibility lets you view random deleted videos right at delutube. Most videos that I watched had some bikini babes and booty shaking in them but there where also some sports and other kinds of videos available. It could be considered not surfer friendly in some countries but it should be fine for most.

So, if you ever come upon the dreaded “This video is no longer available” grab the id from the youtube page and try loading it with delutube. This does not work all the time, if it does not delutube displays a message in the download box saying so. Videos get probably deleted physically as well after a period of time.

A alternative is Deletedyoutube which uses the same method.

Update: The DeleteYouTube website is no longer available. The website throws an 404 not found error. The majority of services that claim to allow you to view deleted YouTube videos are not able to provide you with those capabilities.

Responses so far:

  1. there’s actually a pretty good reason for youtube to keep the video on the harddrive after deleting it from the site…

if the video was removed as part of a notice-and-takedown action in response to a dmca complaint, there’s actually a provision for remediation if the uploader contends that the dmca complaint was in error…

… and it is a great way of distributing video. just upload, delete the video yorself and link to it through a flash flv player from your website…

by the way searching videos trough google video gets works much better then trough youtube itself..

Is it possible for me to recover deleted clips that are almost 10 minutes in length? I was hoping to recover and download some clips from the 1980s game show Press Your Luck (some of which are almost 10 minutes in length), but I cannot seem to get them to download properly. What would i have to do to recover the clips? Is the reason for the lack of recovery due to the file size?

  25. LDEJRuff says:

What are you trying to pull? I can’t go to Delutube because it always takes me to a website saying that the domain name may be for sale, and the alternative link leads to a website I never want to go to again, because of some pornographic pictures. Pornography was what got me banned from a supposedly-child-friendly forum run by a lying bitch called NeitherSparky.
