Normally, iPhones have two separate volume buttons for volume up and volume down. It has been like this for ages, but Apple wants to change it with the upcoming iPhone family. Instead of sticking to the old style, Apple decided to merge two buttons and stretch them, resulting in a single elongated button for adjusting the volume. These CAD designs currently fall under the category of "leaks," and they are not official yet. However, these tipsters have been right mostly, so expect these features at the official announcement.
Apart from the volume buttons, Apple also plans to change the mute switch to a button that can turn your iPhone's ringer on or off with a pressing motion. Volume and mute buttons will have Taptic engines that provide haptic feedback instead of moving physically. It will be similar to the Home button on the latest iPhone SE or the Force Touch trackpad on modern MacBooks. All this information is expected to be official in September.
Bad news for iPhone 15 standard models
Even though Apple wants to bring these two features to iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max, the standard version iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus models are expected to have the old-style mute switch and separate volume adjustment buttons. The standard version also won't feature an LTPO display, which means that it won't have ProMotion support and an Always-On display like the iPhone 14 Pro models.
Recent leaks revealed the front glass panels for Apple's iPhone 15 lineup. Even though the standard version will lack some cool features, Apple decided to bring Dynamic Island as a basic feature and implement it into the standard version's front panel. Besides, Pro models will have thinner bezels around the display.
iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max models are also expected to come with improved LiDAR scanners provided by Sony. Both models will offer a better AR experience.
