The following article contains all web development articles that have been published in January 09. The articles are provided in PDF format to make them readable on most operating systems and devices. We are providing article compilations to give you the chance to read the articles offline and keep them as reference without having to hop back to our site whenever you want to look something up.

The following web development articles have been published in January 2009 at Ghacks:

How does PHP work?
HTML Playground
PHP - what role does it fill
Standardizing variables to code faster
Web Development: A brief history of time()

You can download the pdf document by clicking on the link below.

Update: The pdf document is still available, but we have stopped distributing our articles in pdf files. The core reason for this is that it simply took to much time to create the pdf file with all the articles inside.

We are currently looking for an automated solution that creates and posts the documents automatically on the site. This would simplify things significantly for us. As it stands now, we have yet to find a free solution that provides us with that functionality.

This is wonderful and highly appreciated. Many things that you bring up on this site are worth having in a offline available format. Much better than us having to go through “save as X” and ending up with a jumble after the internal links don’t like ending up on our hard drives and accessing effectively nothing.

If you were using this as a test case, then please, please continue. Possibly putting out a monthly “roll-up” pdf with a table of contents pulled from the article titles would be a possibility as you may feel justifiably daunted by doing a per issue/idea basis as many of the topics are multidisciplinary.

    Again, Many Thanks.

OK, good first effort. But needs some more work:

    1. Please start each new entry on a new page.
    2. In the How does PHP Work, there are a couple of BOLDED items that are not bolded.
    3. All links referenced in the body need to duplicated and made live.
    4. I’d like to see you include the comment stream also, as readers sometimes include helpful links or information.
