Pinterest and Shuffles: A match made for shopping
Pinterest wants to improve the shopping experience in Shuffles collages and integrate some of its content into Pinterest, starting with shopping.
According to an announcement from Pinterest, Shuffles will have all its shopping capabilities as regular pins. For example, if you tap a watch in a collage, you will be given the product's name, brand, price, and other metadata. You could visit the shop or save it as a pin/product to look at it later.
"Pinterest makes online shopping feel natural and fun because it's a core experience on the platform. As we continue to make it easier to shop what you see on Pinterest, we're offering fresh new ways for consumers to browse, curate and discover products perfectly tailored to their taste," said Bill Ready, CEO of Pinterest.
Pinterest says that "Gen-Z have grown up in a world where everything is available at the click of a button, and they are Pinterest's fastest growing cohort." Teenagers are the most active consumers, and their behaviors will shape the future of online shopping. That's why the company launched Shuffles, aiming at Gen-Z to unleash their creative energy through collages and digital art.
The company also revealed some numbers regarding e-commerce on the platform. It has seen a 66% increase in retailers setting up shop by uploading or integrating their digital catalogs. Pinterest has also seen a 70% growth in active shopping feeds year over year globally, with partners like Shopify who connect the application to millions of merchants.
Pinterest is also launching a new takeover feature called "Pinterest Premiere Spotlight" that showcases a brand front and center on search. The company said the goal is to make it easy for Pinners to discover what's hot while offering premium opportunities for advertisers to reach them at scale.
Shuffles was first launched in English-speaking countries, the US, Canada, Great Britain, Ireland, Australia, and New Zealand, a few months ago. Last month, it expanded to nine additional countries. You can use your own Pinterest account to log into Shuffles and start making collages by cutting out objects from your camera roll, Pins, and boards or by searching for new Pins.
"Shuffles is an extension of Pinterest's mission to bring people the inspiration to create a life they love. We want to give users an innovative way to create visual content, unleashing their artistry and creativity through collages that can be shared with the world. Created by our innovative incubator team, Shuffles allows everybody to create, publish and share what inspires them in a visually compelling way. We're excited to expand the app and its community to more places around the world, and can't wait to see what Shuffles people create," said Naveen Gavini, SVP of Products at Pinterest.Advertisement
