Image Downloader

Image Downloader Pinterest Chrome Extension

Image Downloader main features & specifications summary

  • Rating: 4.5/5
  • Browser compatibility: Chrome
  • Pricing: Free
  • Feature: Easy interface to choose how many images you want to download

Image Downloader pros & cons

Pros

  • User-friendly interface
  • Organized image downloading
  • Filter which images to download by various factors
  • Supports all primary image-sharing websites

Cons

  • Can clutter your default download directory pretty fast

Image Downloader on Instagram

Image Downloader is one of the easiest and widely-used mass image downloading extensions out there. With a simple click, you’re given a neat, easy interface that will list out and select every image on your current page. All you need to do is download and wait, and you’ll have all the images you want.

These sorts of extensions can be extremely useful for keeping an archive of relevant photos and have made them a very useful tool for Chrome users. And of them, Image Downloader is one of the most popular. It’s got a very high rating due to its ease of use and utter versatility. Overall, it’s just a very enjoyable extension to use.

Our only suggestion is to make sure your download folder is set to somewhere that you don’t mind being filled with images. If you make the mistake of setting it to your desktop or some organized folder that you’re particularly fond of not being cluttered, you can say goodbye to that neatness. After a decent amount of use, Image Downloader will make sure that your files are buried beneath a sea of pictures. However, other than that, we saw no downsides to this simple but effective plugin.

Large Image Finder Pinterest Extension for Chrome

Larger Image Finder pros & cons

Cons

  • Has difficulties working with image sites that have recently undergone major updates

Larger Image Finder’s handy right-click option for images on Pinterest

When you take a look at the simplicity, efficiency, and quality behind this extension, it’s no secret as to why it has a near-perfect review score. All it takes is a single click for this powerful plugin to search through thousands of websites to find the high-resolution source image you’re looking for.

It’s the perfect solution to the problem many people have faced on the internet. Especially if you use sites like Pinterest, it can be a nightmare finding the perfect picture only to be able to see every single pixel due to how badly it's been compressed. This plugin aims to fix that by using that grainy image to track down its original, effortlessly leaving you with a high-quality version almost instantly.

While recently-updated websites can occasionally create issues for the plugin, it suffers from very few major bugs. Any difficulties that users experience are usually solved within a few days of them being reported, resulting in Larger Image Finder being one of the most polished extensions available.

Pinterest Enhanced

Pinterest Enhanced Chrome Extension

Pinterest Enhanced main features & specifications summary

  • Rating: 3/5
  • Browser compatibility: Chrome
  • Pricing: Free
  • Feature: Completely overhauls the interface and functionality of Pinterest

Pinterest Enhanced pros & cons

Pros

  • Makes all pins a uniform height for an organized display
  • Minimizes unnecessary pin info
  • Arrow key navigation
  • Easily download or image search pins

Cons

  • Certain features are disabled/don’t work as intended
  • Only works with .com Pinterest, no other area-specific URLs

Shared pin height for organized layout

While most extensions on this list add a specific feature or a useful alteration to an existing one, Pinterest Enhanced essentially reworks the entirety of Pinterest’s layout, bringing a large variety of features with it.

Organized layouts for pins, arrow key navigation, only showing information on highlighted pins, easily downloading or reverse-searching for them, etc. All of these features are included with this plugin, making it one of the most ambitious Pinterest extensions we’ve seen.

However, the extension isn’t without its issues. Its lack of updates has caused many users to leave reviews claiming that the plugin has lost a lot of its functionality due to a lack of support. In certain geographical areas such as Canada, the plugin no longer even works with the site at all.

Pinterest Save Button

  • Extremely easy to use
  • Compatible with all major sites
  • Has the ability to find similar ideas from Pinterest to the one you saved

Cons

  • Has some consistent bugs that the developers are slow to fix

Official screenshot of the Pinterest save button in action

The Pinterest Save Button is one of the most versatile tools on this list. It gives you the ability to save images and ideas from just about anywhere on the internet as if they were a pin for your pinboard. It’s incredibly easy to use and completely safe, especially since it’s an official extension provided by the Pinterest developers.

Downloaded by over eight million users, this plugin may be fairly simple in nature, but that’s what makes it so versatile. If you’ve ever seen an image online that inspired you or just something you wanted to save to be able to come back to without having to download it and store it in some folder just to forget about it, you’ve seen for yourself the use of this plugin. With a single click, you can have this extension hold onto it for you in the same way that Pinterest’s own site works.

Despite being developed by the people behind Pinterest themselves, the extension has its fair share of issues. Many users report similar login error bugs. When they try to save an image, they will be told to log in to Pinterest, but the error will persist even once logged in. Other issues like this are shared by many users, and while they are often fixed with time, it's clear to see that the developers of this plugin aren’t exactly moving at breakneck speeds to stomp out these bugs. However, when it works, it works great, and it’s one of the most useful Pinterest plugins available.

Pinterest Video Downloader

  • Rating: 2.5/5
  • Browser compatibility: Chrome
  • Pricing: Free
  • Feature: Allows you to download any video files from Pinterest

Pinterest Video Downloader pros & cons

Pros

  • Quick downloads
  • Does not store information
  • No ads or purchase required
  • Runs offline

Cons

  • Some users run into error messages when downloading

The Chrome extension icon on the Pinterest site

With nothing but a small button on your browser’s header, Pinterest Video Downloader can quickly download any video file you find on Pinterest, just as its name would suggest. With a design as straightforward as that, you’re obviously not going to find many surprise features or extra goodies with this one. However, it does what it needs to, and it does it well. It’s simple to use, downloads files quickly, and lets you get back to browsing Pinterest right away.

Yes, it’s simple in nature, but if you’re just trying to find a good video downloader, that’s probably all you were looking for anyway. You won’t have to worry about ads or purchases, either. It’s a completely free extension that gives you all the features it has to offer. If you’re looking for simple but effective, you’ve found it.

Its reviews are fairly split due to some users experiencing a common problem. They report that they received an error message that prevented them from being able to download anything. We experienced nothing of the sort, but we’re unable to say for certain if the developer ever truly solved this bug. Regardless, it’s worth giving a try if you’re looking for a solid video downloader for Pinterest.

Shareaholic for Pinterest

Shareaholic for Pinterest on Chrome

Shareaholic for Pinterest main features & specifications summary

  • Rating: 4/5
  • Browser compatibility: Chrome
  • Pricing: Free
  • Feature: Easy way to send any image on the internet to your pinboard

Shareaholic for Pinterest pros & cons

Pros

  • Easy to use functionality
  • Shows you how many times pages have been pinned
  • Very few known bugs

Cons

  • Fairly similar functions to the official Pinterest Save Button

Official screenshot of Shareaholic pin collection

Shareaholic for Pinterest is an extension that isn’t too different from the Pinterest Save Button plugin. It essentially boils down to giving you the ability to save content from just about any website directly to your pinboard. However, despite not being an official plugin, Shareaholic actually has a higher general rating due to its ease of use and level of polish.

It also has a bit of additional functionality. As well as being able to save from all over the internet, it can also tell you how often your or anyone else’s content online has been saved and pinned. It’s a very simple addition that definitely stands out as a handy feature, making Shareaholic feel just a bit above what the Pinterest Save Button has to offer.

Shareaholic, unfortunately, doesn't receive frequent updates. It’s hardly been touched since it was first released. However, surprisingly enough, it still seems to work for most users for a majority of sites. But some sites, such as Twitter, seem to have lost all functionality with this extension. Other than that, there aren’t many issues keeping this plugin from working as intended.

ShotPin

ShotPin Pinterest extension for Chrome

ShotPin main features & specifications summary

  • Rating: 3/5
  • Browser compatibility: Chrome
  • Pricing: Free
  • Feature: Save entire web pages to Pinterest

ShotPin pros & cons

Pros

  • Share web pages to Pinterest
  • Choose what portion of the page to save
  • Quick and easy to use
  • Frequent bug fixes

Cons

  • Known to have issues with higher resolution screens

Official ShotPin screenshot, just drag a box to choose dimensions

While there are a few options on this list if you’re just looking to save a single image to your pinboard, ShotPin takes a broader aim on the matter. With ShotPin, you can save an entire screenshot of a webpage, or even a customizable portion of the webpage, to Pinterest with ease.

It’s as easy to use as pressing a button and dragging a box over what you’d like to capture. With that, your screenshot is immediately saved to Pinterest with a simple click. It’s one of the easiest extensions to use on this list, as well as one of the handiest. Being able to save whatever webpage you want to view later is a saving grace if you don’t want to have to keep a bookmark for every page that catches your eye.

Unfortunately, ShotPin continues to suffer from a few pesky bugs. Many users report getting stuck with an “eternal loading sign” when they try to crop an area. Others say that the colors on their screenshots become dulled slightly. And in worst-case scenarios, the extension won’t work at all with 4K monitors. If these issues could be fixed, this plugin could easily become the most useful on this list.

Shaun, since you joined ghacks your contributions have been almost all related to pushing people towards further use of the worst large scale privacy offenders on the internet. Following your recommendations will do nothing but provide reams of personal data to large advertisers and data collectors. I’m personally finding it hard to understand how articles about using Pinterest, Facebook and other Chrome extensions fit the needs of the gHacks audience or this blog’s mission, unless their is a directive from the new owners to broaden/dumb down your user base. I guess news about some exciting new uses for Instagram will be coming soon.

I hope that I speak for most ghacks readers when I express the wish that at some point very soon your articles stop being part of the problem and start being part of the solution.

Definitely an odd direction for ghacks. The last thing I ever expected to see on the site was an article on plug-ins for Pinterest. Pinterest? Seriously? There are plenty of articles that could be written on phones and apps that would be both interesting and beneficial. This isn’t one of them – not by a long shot. Up your game please, Shaun. This is unworthy of the site.

It’s disgusting that ghacks by hands of this guy promotes such predatory service that pinterest is. They steal content and pretend to be “the” source of it while asking users to register so they could track them.
