I have followed the NANY (New Apps for a New Year) event over on Donation Coder ever since it was first introduced in 2007.
It is a fun event in which programmers pledge to produce one or multiple new software programs for the event that they release for free when the year ends.
What I like most about it is that you get a wide variety of results, from very basic apps to complex ones.
Each year, there is always a selection of apps and games released by participants that I like and consider useful, and this year is no exception to that.
You can check out the main apps roundup page on Donation Coder and also check out past year submissions on it as well.
Below is a list of all apps released this year. A summary of what the app or game does is listed there as well so that you know what it is all about.

Advertising revenue is falling fast across the Internet, and independently-run sites like Ghacks are hit hardest by it. The advertising model in its current form is coming to an end, and we have to find other ways to continue operating this site.
We are committed to keeping our content free and independent, which means no paywalls, no sponsored posts, no annoying ad formats (video ads) or subscription fees.

Ghacks is a technology news blog that was founded in 2005 by Martin Brinkmann. It has since then become one of the most popular tech news sites on the Internet with five authors and regular contributions from freelance writers.
