Logan Kart is a cart racing game for Windows PCs that plays a lot like Mario Kart. Mario Kart is probably the most popular fun-racing game out there, but it is only available for Nintendo devices.

Logan Kart is a free game for PCs that brings some of the excitement of Mario Kart to PC. While the developers took some of the things that make Mario Kart great, Logon Kart is not a pure Mario Kart clone for PC.

It has its own set of characters, karts, and tracks. You can download the game from Majorgeeks and probably also from other online download sites. The game has a size of 224 Megabytes and needs to be unpacked after the download. You don't need to install it but can run it right after unpacking.

Logan Kart

Logan Kart comes with three main game modes: Grand Prix, Time Trials, and VS Race.

Grand Prix works similarly to Mario Kart's Grand Prix mode. You select controls -- keyboard and joystick are supported -- first, and then the character and Kart that you want to play. The characters look different, but there is no other distinction between them (they don't have stats or anything that they add to the race). Karts, on the other hand, come with the four parameters speed, acceleration, handling and weight

The game supports multiple cups and classes just like Mario Kart. The difficulty level increases with each class. You can pick one of the four cups the game supports currently to get started right away.

Grand Prix is a single player mode in which you race against computer opponents. The races work exactly like they do in Mario Kart. You race around tracks, pick up specials and try to finish first to get the most points for each race.

The specials are taken directly from Mario Kart. You get red and green shells, the turbo boost, the banana, or the star, and can use them to your advantage.

Most maps have a decent length, and you will encounter ramps or different paths that you can follow on some maps on top of that.

Time trial mode is a race against the clock mode. You drive alone on the maps that you select and try to beat your time for as long as you like.

VS mode finally is probably the most exciting mode as it introduces local multiplayer. You can play with up to three friends on the same monitor in split-screen mode.

Closing Words

Logan Kart is a fun racing game that comes with enough game modes and options to make it enjoyable. The game has its issues, that is for sure. You can criticize the graphics or physics engine for instance, or that most tracks are not particularly exciting to race on.

It is not Mario Kart, but it is a nice clone that does many things right.

I downloaded this tonight and the kids played it for hours, one with a keyboard, the other with an X box controller. So simple; they knew all the characters and “racers” from years ago, loved it!
Their five star review: “The best and worst game ever! Awesome!”

Nah, SuperTuxKart is still the best alternative IMHO. And you can easily expand it with community-created maps and karts and stuff.

I just realized the game’s name is not LogOn Kart, but LogAn Kart instead.

I plan to do so, a free game review each Saturday. I sometimes forget though :)
