Airytec Switch Off is a free program for the Windows operating system that enables you to shut down your PC automatically or remotely.
Have you ever encountered a situation where you had to leave a PC running because of a program or process that you could not interrupt? If that is the case, a software like Airytec Switch Off might have helped you out in this case as it would have allowed you to shut down the PC remotely at a later point in time.
The program can initiate local and remote shutdowns and other actions. It comes as a portable version and installer for both 32-bit and 64-bit editions of the Windows operating system. There is only one difference between the installer and the portable version: the remote options are only available when you use the installer.
Airytec Switch Off displays a system tray icon upon startup that serves two purposes: it can be used to perform specific actions like shutting down the PC, enabling sleep mode, hibernation or shutting down a vpn connection right away, or on schedule.
Available immediate actions can be initiated right away, after 30, 60 or 120 minutes or after 30, 60 or 120 minutes of cpu inactivity. An option to select the same for network inactivity would be a nice addition as it is currently not available.
The second option the program offers is a scheduler which you can display with a left-click on the program icon.
The scheduler can be used to configure events that happen once, daily, weekly, per countdown or on cpu idle. The available actions that are performed are the same that are available in the right-click menu:
The web interface can be configured in the program's options as well. It will run on the local computer system and listen on port 800 by default. You can protect it with a username and password to prevent unauthorized access to the features it makes available.
Update: Newer versions of the program support additional features that you may find interesting. The program supports new actions, like locking a workstation, logging off users or running scripts now for example.
Airytec Switch Off is a lightweight software program for all supported Windows operating systems as well as several that are no longer officially supported.. It can be downloaded from the developer's website.Advertisement
