Update: The browser extension has not been updated since 2012. Google removed the black navigation bar the add-on uses in the meantime making this add-on incompatible with the newest version of Google+. A comparable add-on is currently not available.

Google is supporting its social networking service Google+ with Google Chrome extensions. This includes the Google Translate for Google+ extension for instance that allows users to automatically or manually translate posts on Google Plus.

Google+ Manager is a relative new extension for the Firefox web browser that combines access to several handy features in one extension.

In short, it offers translation options, keyboard shortcuts, a new quick access menu, sharing options and url shortener.

When you first install Google+ Manager for Firefox, you will notice that it adds a new icon to the new Google Bar that is displayed at the top of all Google.com web services.

This icon opens up a menu that links directly to all relevant pages on the Google Plus website.

It links directly to the home page, profile, photos, circles, incoming stream or settings.

Once on the Google+ site you will notice new icons next to each post. A new translate icon, reply and sharing icon have been added on the +1 Comment Share row on Google Plus.

A click on the new Share button next to the original Share option opens a popup where the message can be shared via the Add This service to hundreds of other online services.

Translate on the other open a small form where you need to select the language that you want the post translated to. This did not really work at the time of writing.

Probably one of the most exciting features of the extension are new keyboard shortcuts that have been added by the developer.

This includes shortcuts to open a specific page on Google Plus like the profile page or the edit languages page, and shortcuts to add text formats such as bold, italic or strike through.

Other features include the previously mentioned url shortener which can create short urls right from the Google+ Manager menu icon or the easy reply icon to make replying to a specific user easier.

Firefox users who spend some time on Google Plus each day may want to take the add-on for a test drive to see if they benefit from its features. The add-on can be installed directly from the Mozilla Add-on Repository.
