Microsoft Environment is a new website by Microsoft "to help people and businesses around the world foster environmental sustainability". While it is clearly aimed at IT professionals it offers a few interesting white papers for the home user who wants to read about environmental topics like Power Management and Virtualization.

The website offers quite a few white papers in categories like Data Centers, Power Management, Technet Articles and External Resources. Not everything available is offered as a white paper though. The website links directly to some interesting articles like "Sustainable Computing Sleep or Hibernate?" which offers lots of value to home users as well.

Everything is obviously clearly centered around the Windows plattform and other Microsoft products like Windows Server but also free products like Microsoft Virtual Earth.

Could be definitely interesting for some readers but do not expect a lot of tips for end user PCs.

Just saw on the news that Microsoft has been appointed by the international consumers organization as one of the big environment polluters!
They are trying to brainwash us all!
    Use only free software!
