I think that the following hosting offer can be interesting to some users. I have to admit that I'm not using the hosting at one.com because I run my own dedicated server but I was not able to find out bad reviews about the webhoster when researching it. One.com is currently running a promotion that gives users in selected countries access to one of their hosting packages and a domain name for no costs. Well, almost no costs, a setup fee has to be paid but it turns out to be roughly one Euro per month.

This means that you get one year of free hosting and a domain name for roughly 15 Euros. That's a pretty good deal I have to admit especially if you consider that you get 1 Gigabyte of space and unlimited traffic. I'm always a bit wary about offers that include unlimited traffic because it normally means that you do not have to worry about the traffic that your website causes unless you shoot the traffic through the roof. Every hoster will cancel the contract or ask you to upgrade in that situation.

MySQL and PHP is included so you got everything you need to setup your own blog or website. You get unlimited emails and ftp access as well. The countries the promotion is currently running are UK, Germany, Austria, Switzerland and India. Everyone else would pay the usual hosting fee which is currently between 1 and 2 Euros per month which is acceptable as well.

Update: The offer is no longer valid, but the standard offers appear to match the offer more or less. The cheapest account at one.net starts at 1.25 Euro per month plus the annual fees for a domain name (between 6 Euros and 16 Euros). It is still a pretty good offer on paper. I cannot vouch for the service on the other hand, and would suggest you research it before you sign up.

Just wanted to let you know that the German site is not really a complaint about one.com – the complaining person is actually more fed up with spamhaus, that’s not really something one.com can work on and happened to me with a domain at a local host as well…
i’ve considered hosting with one.com several times and used their pre-sales for questions but never ended up using them, might give it a try this time… it’s free, comeon…

    Hi,
I am getting crazy over one.com right now. I have had a great experience with them, having several sites there about three years.

But now they have had the database down three times in four days. Once was really bad, being down a couple of hours.
And the support guy I tried to chat with today (Peter), he answered on my first question, and then immediately hung up without waiting for my follow-up. Really annoying.
They have built up their trust several years, and now totally ruined it in four days.

Hmm, looks like a good start for beginning website owners or bloggers.
