Security updates for Samsung devices this August
Samsung remains the king of updates as it releases its latest security update for August a couple of days before we flip over the calendar. This release was also just in time for the early availability of a few A-series phones. This security release has quickly spread to more and more Samsung Galaxy smartphones.
This month’s security updates started with the Samsung Galaxy A52, which is considered a mid-range device, but that didn’t stop Samsung from still including it in their security patch for August.
However, upon inspection, the changelog was relatively sparse. Only a few vague bug fixes and minor improvements were listed. The update was also quickly spotted in a few countries, such as Germany, Kazakhstan, Russia, and Ukraine.
The security update was soon noted on a few other A-series Samsung devices. Among others were the A8 and A72. However, the most important move was bringing the early security patch to Galaxy S21, which started in China.
The latest security update should now be available on most Samsung devices, so make sure to check for the update on your device. If the update for your version is out, but you haven’t received it yet, make sure to check with your provider. Below is a list of the devices with their relevant release dates.

Closing words
Despite not having an extensive listing in the changelog, we continue to appreciate the consistency of Samsung’s monthly security updates to their Android devices. The king of updates does it again.
I have an A50 and thought this update might be coming to my device, but sadly it seems the “three OS updates per galaxy” doesn’t apply to 2019 devices :(
Regardless of the phone manufacturer, I will not spend a penny on any device not supported by LineageOS.

The Samsung A32 5G is due for an update in August. It was last updated in May and gets quarterly security updates. I would expect other A series phones will get updated as well.
