YSP Dermatology Image Database is a free cross-platform program that provides you with imagery and information of various skin conditions.
The program is designed for patients and regular people, and not intended for doctors, pharmacists or nurses. It may be used for educational purposes in most countries though.
The program's main purpose is to provide patients with accurate dermatology images and information. The images can be useful for monitoring skin conditions and range from insect bites and burns to various types of cancer.
It should be clear that you should not rely 100% on the imagery alone, but it may be suitable to find out more about a dermatology issue on your own before you consult a dermatologist.

The Windows version of the program has a size of 91 Megabytes. YSP Dermatology Image Database is also available for Mac OS, iPad and iPhone, and Android smartphones and tablets. An online version is available as well on the project website, but it requires Adobe Flash to function.
The Windows installer was clean, and you can run the program after installation. The program supports two main modes of operation: use the built-in search or browse by keywords.
The screenshot above shows the keyword functionality. All keywords are displayed on a single page and divided into diagnoses, body sites and others.
The diagnoses are listed with their medical terms which means that you may not have much use for them unless you visited a doctor already. The body sites and others groups are useful if you have had a doctor's appointment yet. You select the region of the body that you noticed the issue and select an attribute optionally as well.
The program displays all matching images that it has in its database when you hit the search button. A click on an image opens it in the larger preview areas on the same screen. The program provides you with a short description of the issue which may reveal additional information about it such as different colors or shapes of the issue in question.
YSP Dermatology Image Database offers information on dermatology issues that may help you identify issues and sometimes even how to respond to it. Again, the database is no substitute for visiting a dermatologist.
You can use the scaling buttons in the interface to reduce the size of the interface but that is all the functionality you get.

YSP Dermatology Image Database is a specialized medical program for Windows. The interface is a bit clunky to use but it serves its purpose well enough.
There really needs to be a patient version for all medical conditions. If used properly would be useful for doctors to have patients who know what is “useful” information to provide at an appointment to achieve more accurate results when diagnosing.
