Game show Wipeout gets its own Android game

While it may not be familiar to readers around the world, U.S. folks will likely recognize the name Wipeout. If you are not familiar with it then let me explain. It is a silly game show in which contestants attempt to negotiate a ridiculously baffling obstacle course that is fraught with, not only difficult tasks, but also hidden dangers waiting to send them plunging into the waters below.

Regardless of if you have seen the show, you may be interested in the fact that is has now spawned an app for your Android phone or tablet to give you a taste of the action while not getting you soaked in the process. Of course, you also will not be winning any prize money in the process either, so it is sort of a trade off.

"Say Hello to the BIG BALLS! Now you can tackle your favorite Wipeout obstacles on Android and pull off hilarious Wipeouts anywhere you go! Run, jump and dive through your favorite challenges from the hit TV show".

Players can choose from a panel of contestants, play in a special "time-trial mode", play entire seasons -- much like Madden football, compete against friends and cash in points for unlock new shows, contestants, and power-up helmets.

The game plays smoothly and gives the feel of the actual TV show, but without the feeling of that real punch to the gut that you would get if you went on the show. It was produced by ABC TV, along with popular long-time game maker Activision. It is not free however, but $1.99 is not a bad price to pay for a time-waster of a game. And, it does provides some endless hours of entertainment for adults and children.

This is not Jeopardy. It will not test your wit nor make you smarter. It is just good, clean, kick-to-the-groin type of fun. The kind which we all need here and there.
