Google Tasks is making it easier to stay on top of your urgent tasks
Google Tasks is fondly known as one of the best to-do apps for Android. However, despite its popularity, the app doesn’t get a lot of attention from developers. Improvements and new features are few and far between. But, the folks at XDA Developers have found an unreleased feature that will make sorting through your most urgent tasks easier and more convenient.
According to the APK Teardown released by XDA Developers, Google Tasks should soon be receiving a new feature that will allow users to mark important tasks with a star. This is similar to how you’d star items in Microsoft To-Do. Once an errand has been starred, it will automatically be added to the ‘starred’ tab pinned to Tasks’ top-left corner.
This is an extension of the tabs feature that Google introduced earlier in the month. Before the tabs feature was introduced, users had to click on the hamburger icon before accessing their different lists.
This upcoming star feature will make it easier for users to stay on top of their most important tasks. When you mark a task with a star, it will be featured in the starred tab without leaving the original list that you added it to. This is useful when you work on multiple lists to see what lists those tasks are associated with. However, you will also be able to add tasks directly to the starred tab if it doesn’t need to be included in a separate list.
Starring tasks is by no means a new feature. It has been around for a long time in Microsoft’s To-Do app. However, this feature will be unique to Google Tasks and should make quite a difference to how users can use the app. This feature should also help improve users’ productivity, as it would be easier than ever to stay on top of urgent errands.
Closing words
Although this new feature is not yet available for Google Tasks, it is an upcoming one. I am excited to see how this new way of structuring a list of to-do tasks will increase the app’s functionality and make users more productive and convenient.
It would be nice if Google tasks had a better interface for the non-Chrome desktop user.
I have found both Google Tasks and Microsoft To-do too primitive. I’m still searching for a good cloud based product.
Is there any desktop client for Google Tasks? Widget on the desktop or somethig?
