Vivaldi 3.6 for Android introduces Page Actions feature
Vivaldi Technologies released the first major version update of 2021 for the company's Vivaldi browser for the Android operating system today. Vivaldi 3.6 for Android follow's last week's release of Vivaldi 3.6 for desktop operating systems.
The update is already available on Google Play and as a consequence as a direct update on devices that support it.
Vivaldi 3.6 introduces a number of new features including one that is called Page Actions.
Page Actions allows users of the browser to modify the appearance of sites by applying preset filters. A tap on the Vivaldi menu and the selection of Page Actions from the menu that opens displays the available filters.
Available filters range from grayscale and black & white to inverting colors and a page minimap that is displayed next to a site's scrollbar in the Vivaldi browser.
Vivaldi users may apply one or multiple filters on a page, and these are applied instantly when selected. The selection is remembered by the mobile browser for the entire site. Filters are applied to any page you visit on the site in question, even across browsing sessions. Filters may be reset by toggling them in the Page Actions menu while you are on the site they are applied to.
Vivaldi 3.6 for supports other new features besides Page Actions. The developers have added a QR Code scanner to the application which users may launch by long-tapping on the Vivaldi app icon and selecting Scan QR Code, by selecting the option in the URL field, or through the search widget.
The scanner uses the device's camera, and you need to give Vivaldi permission to use it. Once done, you are able to scan QR codes with the device's camera.
The new mobile version of Vivaldi introduces support for external download managers, which can be configured under Vivaldi Menu > Settings > Downloads > External Download Manager. A third-party program needs to be installed, and it may then be selected in Vivaldi to handle file downloads.
The last new feature introduces a medium size option for Speed Dial tiles on the start page and new tab page of the web browser.
Vivaldi is available for free for devices running Android 5 or higher. The first version of the Vivaldi web browser for Android was released in 2019.

Vivaldi 3.6 is a usability update first and foremost. The new Page Actions feature provides users with options to change the appearance of a site. The available filters are limited in this release. A filter to turn off images or media files on a specific site would come in handy, among other things.

My God The Vivaldi upgrade system is horrible. I had to download some 10 versions and I still do not know if I’m in the last version, besides leaving a lot of installers occupying space that I have to remove manually.
I think they’re adding too many features to an already bloated browser
They need to introduce extension support. That’s the only need they need, nobody cares about the rest.
Their mobile browser is the same useless gimmick as their desktop counterpart – a massive bloat of useless features that nobody cares about.
Vivaldi browser is for power more educated users who knows how to set it up tailored to their usage. They, too, do not care for such nobodies.

The desktop browser is bugged and slow, you have to spend too much time tinkering with it to get it set up how you want it.
The mobile browser is complete garbage – it doesn’t even support extensions like Kiwi does. You have an option to put your own hosts files for blocking, but do you know what happened when I did that?
The browser got so slow it could not load google.com for at least 3 minutes, then I got tired of waiting and uninstalled it.
An Android browser is only worth using when it can install extensions like uBlock Origin and Privacy Badger.
Did it hurt your feelings when I said nobody cares about Vivaldi and it’s bloat? Good. Because it’s also true. They barely have enough market share most because their desktop browser is slow and bugged compared to other Chromium browsers and has website incompatibilities compared to other Chromium browsers. Escpecially discord.com runs like garbage on Vivaldi when you scroll up the chat, but works flawlessly on Opera, Chrome, Brave, etc.
No need to defend your garbage browser of choice, only because others are saying the truth about it – that it’s pure garbage.
@Allwynd It’s not the truth mate, look at this, a man’s garbage is another man’s treasure, just like Vivaldi browser, even when the Vivaldi browser fit your expectation, it’s still not for you, don’t use it again ok, I know how to make a browser running real sh#t on my system, but I don’t, try to test it as natural and default and haven’t got into any major problem that hugely impact my browsing experience, on Mobile the adblock filters still not updated to the latest version and still can’t block cookie notice though, but it’s still not everything. Did it hurt your feeling when Vivaldi browser not fit for you? LOL, it definitely is, you just shoot yourselves mate, and it’s a huge success.

Honestly I can’t figure out what the point of these Page Actions is.
Vivaldi has introduced more ‘niche’ features. Their desktop browser early on got support for changing browser’s appearance based on a connected Phillips Hue smart bulb.

I hate the bottom bar…don’t know when they wil add the option to remove it :/ Same goes for Brave.
Uh you can already do that. Vivaldi on my phone has the address bar on the bottom and no top bar. Or you can have everything on the top and no bottom bar if you prefer that.
I can see the bottom bar being an annoyance on mobile but in my case, as soon as I scroll the page the UI disappears. Also, smartphone aspect ratios are extra tall nowadays like my OP 7 Pro which is 19.5:9 so the bottom bar for me is a non-issue, even if it didn’t go away. That said, my Pixel 3a XL has an 18:9 aspect ratio so the bottom bar would be a problem on that device if the bar didn’t go away after scrolling. Do I like the functionality of the bar more than I would a cleaner UI and then having to open the menu to access the same functions? No, I’m fine with the way it is now.
Brave has an option to disable the bottom bar… Settings/Appearance, “Enable bottom toolbar”. ;)
