Text Highlighter For Firefox
Wired-Marker is a text highlighter add-on for Firefox that can mark selected text in different colors just like a marker would with text on paper.Doing so can be useful if you are studying for example, doing research or just want to highlight text for safe keeping.
The information that you mark using the extension are saved so that they are displayed the next time you open the page in the browser.
The information are stored in a local databases which can be moved to different computers without problems. The add-on for Firefox is highly customizable. It is possible to create additional databases and manage pretty much all aspects of the extension so that it matches your needs and requirements.
Two features make Wired-Marker stick out a little bit from similar add-ons like Yawas. A scrollbar can be displayed that lets you quick-jump between marked text snippets. That comes in very handy when you are reading on large sites that you went through before.
The default colors and names can be changed as well. Instead of using Color1, Color2, Color3 you could change them to Important, Source and Critical or whatever you like.
The main use for Wired Marker is in my opinion research. It really only makes sense to use it on large texts, essays for instance and also for pages that you return to regularly.
Update: After you install Wired Marker in Firefox you won't find its icon or link easily in the browser. You need to open the menu of Firefox and select customize there to list the Wired Marker icon to move it to a location in the browser where you want it to be in.
Once done you can enable it with a click or use the shortcut Alt-X to display it. The new mode displays a sidebar menu with information.
To mark text highlight it, right-click on the selection afterwards and select one of the available colors that Wired Marker offers.
