“What is happening here? What is this nonsense bullying against @Shaun and his articles? I found these articles very interesting for all sort of people! If you dislike them, just say the opinion with education, the writer is only doing his job. Thanks @Shaun for this article! :]”

It’s runs deeper than that. Microsoft is a convicted monopoly. They are CRIMINALS. You like reading about (and probably using crap software) criminals and how to use their black box (proprietary) OS?

    Sad.

I don’t usually agree with the “advertorial” commenters, but in this case I’m beginning to wonder. All it takes is a simple google search to see how horrendous Microsoft support is at solving problems.

Yes I have to admit, initially I thought there was a bit of an angry overreaction to Shaun articles. But there is a tone deafness about them. They seem to be all pro-Microsoft and very elementary in terms of their content.

I really thinks ghacks is trying to steer towards a new audience. I have to admit that we’ve all become a toxic, angry bunch (I include myself in that at times, but I’m trying to change). Maybe ghacks wants to put forth a more positive image.

All merely speculation on my part.

It’s not bullying against @Shaun and his ‘articles’. It’s the calling out of adverts that are trying to be passed of as articles (aka:Advertorials).

Shaun M Jooste was employed by ghacks at the start of December as their copywriter (aka:Someone who writes text for the purpose of advertising or other forms of marketing).

I would post a link to the tweet where he said “Officially a copywriter for @ghacks now, but still writing for @softonic and other clients. Fun times ahead” but the first two times i called this out in similar advertorials my comments didn’t appear so it’s made me rather uncertain of what’s being censored.

Looks like Shaun is a shared account that each month puts a lot of “articles” for different themes.

October was Google, November was Crypto and NFTs, and now December seems to be Microsoft.

What theme will be for January? Probably Amazon or Meta.

Honestly, these Shaun articles are beyond ridiculous. It must be embarrassing to have Softonic force you to run them.

It is sort of as if ghacks now has a parody section. I suppose we could have a contest to pick the very worst one (this one would certainly be a contender for a prize)

More advertorials from ghack’s newly employed copywriter.

I doubt this will pass moderation despite containing nothing offensive, but IMO it should be made much clearer that these ‘articles’ are in fact adverts.
