Microsoft increases Bing Chat turns to 200/20 per day
Microsoft continues to experiment with Bing Chat turns. The company is now testing an increase to 200 daily turns and 20 turns per chat session.
When Microsoft launched Bing Chat, it did not restrict turns at all. Users could communicate with Bing Chat for as long as they wanted, before ending a session and starting a new one. Similarly, there were no daily limits, which meant that users could spend the whole day chatting with the communicative AI, if they wanted to.
Microsoft did realize after a while that its AI would sometimes get confused during longer chat sessions. It sometimes could not distinguish between its own answers, search results, and the queries of users; this had the result, sometimes, that the AI would respond in unsuitable ways.
Chat turn limits were introduced as a response, and Microsoft limited turns to 50 per day and 6 per session initially. The company implemented changes in the background, including a tagging system, which helped the AI keep an overview over who said what. In response, Microsoft increased chat limits gradually over the course of weeks.
Bing Chat users who interact with the AI at the moment may have noticed that the session limit is now 20, as indicated by the number in the lower right corner of the AI's responses.
A turn is made up of a user query and a response. A limit of 20 turns means that the current maximum is 20 user queries and 20 responses by the AI.
Bing Chat won't respond to further queries once the limit is reached. Users need to activate the broomstick icon to reset the session and start a new one.
Microsoft Vice President for Bing’s Growth and Distribution team, Michael Schechter, confirmed the new turn limit on Twitter. Schechter revealed there that Microsoft increased the daily turn limit to 200 in response as well.
His statement "we're testing 20/200 this weekend to see how things go", confirms that Microsoft is monitoring the new limit. The previous limit was 15 turns per session and 150 daily turns in total for each user. Microsoft could go back to that limit, if it detects issues.
Microsoft continues to integrate AI into other services. Today, the company announced the integration of two new AI components into Bing Search. The first added a Stories module to certain queries, which provides AI generated information on the topic as slides. Slides include text and visual elements, and an AI may read the text content to the user.
The second component improves the sidebar Knowledgegraph on Bing. It adds AI content, such as a timeline, to certain queries on Bing.
The features are limited to a small number of queries currently, likely to monitor responses. If these are positive, Microsoft will certainly increase the number of queries significantly in the coming weeks and months.
As for Bing Chat, it is still unclear when Microsoft is going to lift the daily and session turn limits completely.

I am finding Bing Chat a useful resource. It is very good on software code and it is refreshing to have answers that do not have adverts.
However, I did find that when I asked it a mathematical question (one I knew the answer to already), it gave the correct formula to calculate the result, but the sample calculation it gave was wrong!.
I queried this and the ChatBot apologised and corrected the calculation. I was impressed that it could apologise and correct.
I received an invitation to Google’s Bard. Compared to Microsoft’s, it has a much better user interface implementation. Simpler to follow. With all the AI nonsense inside, Bing is currently a confused mess. It looks like a scam site now.
I tried it a few times in the last week and after one chat I get a message that I have used up my chats for the day?? Not that impressed, seems more a novelty then any really useful tool. Especially if it gets overwhelmed that it has to limit your access. I just use search and have no problem with that.
