Soon, Windows 11 devices that don't meet the minimum system requirements of the operating system, will display System Requirements Not Met reminders to users.

windows 11 requirements not met

Microsoft picked two locations in Insider builds of Windows 11: first on the startpage of the Settings application, and second, above the build number displayed on the desktop. Since the latter is not displayed on non-Insider builds, it is likely that the reminder is not going to be displayed on the desktop on stable builds.

Windows 11 can be installed on devices that don't meet the minimum system requirements. Microsoft published instructions to do so, and there are several third-party tools, MediaCreationTool.batVentoy, or Rufus, that assist users in installing Windows 11 on devices that are not compatible.

Windows 11 users who don't want to see the reminder on their devices may make a change in the Windows Registry to hide it. The change affects the message only, it does not affect the status of the system in regards to compatibility.

Remove the System Requirements Not Met reminder in Windows 11

  1. Load the Windows Registry Editor, e.g., by opening Start, typing regedit, and selecting the option.
  2. Confirm the UAC prompt that Windows displays when you start the Registry Editor.
  3. Navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\UnsupportedHardwareNotificationCache.
  4. Double-click on the value SV2 and change its data value to 0.
  5. Restart the PC after you have made the change.

Windows 11 won't display the reminders anymore that the system is not compatible. The reminder is removed in both locations, desktop and Settings application, on Insider builds. Stable builds of Windows 11 do not display the message currently, and the Registry key does not exist because of that. Microsoft will introduce it in the future, likely, on non-Insider builds of Windows 11.

Closing Words

The reminder has no functional purpose at this point in time and it is easy enough to ignore it. Users who don't want to see it at all can now hide it on their devices by making a change to the Registry key.

Now You: are your PCs compatible with Windows 11 (via Deskmodder)

I fail to see the point in pointing it out that the system is not supported. The user knows this. Also, there’s NOTHING a user can do about it, the balls in redmonds court: lower your expectations man. It’s quite a sucky situation, many people bought new and NOT cheap computers these last years and then are told they aren’t compatible with the latest and greatest OS??? When they are. It’s microsoft that has its head up its a**. Again. Showing that notification in peoples faces is just nasty behaviour. Like: “we know you are poor, sucks to be you hahahaa. Second class citizen, get a job!”

Seriously Redmond, suck a fat old wrinkly d**k.

Just remove Windows 11 altogether and use 10. There is nothing in 11 worth wasting time on.

I agree. Windows 11 just has a different look. I have not found anything that makes it worth the change.

Anyway nobody does not care now about it. Or even as they didn’t ever. :]
