Most mobile phones and web apps do not come with options to schedule posts or messages. If you want to schedule a SMS for a later date, for example to make sure you congratulate someone on the day of his birthday, you cannot do so with the default messaging apps.

The very same thing is true for messages that you post to social networking sites. There are other reasons why you may want to schedule posts or SMS besides making sure that you do not forget someone's birthday or other important events.

Say you do not have an Internet connection at the time but want to prepare posts so that they get posted at a later point in time. Or, you have time at your hand right now to post messages but want to post them at a later point in time when you may not have enough to do so. So, write New Year's Eve SMS wishes in advanced to make sure they arrive on time without you having to write them after the clock strikes midnight.

Or, post a new message to your businesses' social media accounts at the time they reach the largest audience.

Schemes - Scheduled Networking

Schemes is a free application for Google Android versions 2.3 and up that enables you to schedule SMS or posts to Facebook or Twitter, or emails via Google Mail.

What this means is that you can write the messages at any time and configure them to be published when the time is right for that.

You may connect your social networking accounts if you plan to schedule posts uses Schemes, or may skip the step to only schedule SMS messages instead.

The main area displays all pending messages by default, so that you see on first glance what is going to be published soon. You can use the menu on the left to filter messages by service, which can come in handy if you have a lot of them scheduled.

You can create a new message with a tap on the message icon in the upper right corner.

When you do so, you get to the compose screen where you can select the type of message (SMS, email or a social network), the recipient,  the time and date, and of course the actual message. What is interesting is that you can tick more than one network box to post to more than a single service at once, and that you cannot enter a recipient field when you want to post on Facebook, as you will always post a status update on the site.

Pro Version Info: A Pro version of Schemes is available. It adds several features to the application, including options to send images as attachments, repeat messages that you have already created, or to change the theme of the application. The Pro key is available for €0.99

As long as messages are scheduled, you can cancel them without any negative impact.

Verdict

Schemes is a useful message scheduler for the four supported network types. If you use those regularly and want to be able to schedule posts from your Android mobile, then you will be very pleased with the app.

While it has its shortcomings, like no option to send messages to individual Facebook users, it is for the most part a well designed straightforward app that should not pose any troubles to you.
