Ghacks previously covered the Torch web browser, which is known for its built-in BitTorrent capabilities and feature-rich media integration. The Chrome-based browser may at first seem a tool for pirates -- it does advertise itself on the Pirate Bay, after all -- but users will discover a fast and efficient web browser that can fill many needs.

The recent integration of video into the Instagram photo-sharing app, puts it in direct competition with Vine from Twitter, though Instagram attempted to one-up its rival with 15-second videos as opposed to only six.

Now Torch has introduced its newest feature in an effort to keep pace with the latest developments, this time rolling out the ability to download these short clips from Facebook's latest acquisition.

"If you want to save videos from Instagram, you can do so easily", says Nadine Segal of Torch. The announcement then proceeds to lay out the process in three easy steps that could possibly enrage those worried of privacy, as once downloaded, the videos can be posted anywhere and shared around.

To get started you will need to verify you are running the latest version of Torch. If not head over here and grab a copy. Once downloaded and installed then we can move on.

Now, use the Torch Browser to open the Instagram page for the video you wish to download and, once the Video is open, you should find the media grabber button at the top right of the browser tool bar, just to the side of the URL bar.

Finally, click the Video button. Your file will automatically download and you should see the file appear on the bottom left side of the browser window.

Conclusion

Torch, while remaining largely behind-the-scenes in the IE-Firefox-Chrome war, continues to innovate and is, perhaps, the best option on the market today for many users, though most simply do not know it yet. Putting aside the Torrent thing, the browser has solid media features that make it quite capable. Instagram is just the latest example of that.

This is great, I already seen a couple of Instagram videos that I wanted to download.
I noticed that the latest version of Torch has a download accelerator so files are being downloaded even faster than before.

Hmm, I have had no problems accessing the media grabber with youtube, in fact, while every other ad-on I’ve tried has failed to be consistent, torch pretty much always gets it right.

I don’t like Torch- its video downloader fails to grab Youtube videos, the toolbar is not customizable- the ‘Share’ button cannot be removed, its torrent clients takes associations for torrent files without warning. For me the best Chromium based browser is SRWare Iron- at least better than Chrome, Spark, Torch and Yandex.
