9GAG is one of those Internet projects that has totally slipped past my radar. The site is one of the most popular Internet sites right now, with an Alexa rank of 251 currently. If you have never been to the site before you are probably asking yourself right now what it is all about, any why it is that popular.

Once you are on the site you will immediately notice that it is one of those fun websites where lots of photos and images are posted. This includes funny photos, images with text, and picture series are posted regularly on the 9Gag website.

These images are posted mainly by 9GAG users, which makes it an entertainment community of sorts. A Facebook account is required for most of the activities on the site, including posting images, sharing them or leaving a comment on the site.

Posts are updated regularly and tend to get an incredible amount of likes, views and comments on the site. If you like to monitor 9GAG for new posts while you are at work, you may prefer to use the Chrome extension 9GAG Mini which monitors the site for new posts and informs you of updates with notifications and its program icon in the browser's address bar. A click opens the last posts on the site which can be accessed right in the overlay window with another click.

Here you see the image that has been posted, the likes, shares and tweets and comments it has received. If you are logged into your Facebook account, you can even reply to comments, or use the share and like options right from the window.

Here you can also use the navigations links at the top to quickly browse through all recent images on the site. If you prefer not to receive notifications, you can turn that feature off in the program options.

Are you a 9GAG regular? Or have you heard of the site for the first time?

Martin do you realize that nothing on 9gag was created by 9gag? It is all stolen. The admins use bots to steal content from 4chan, Reddit and FunnyJunk, take off their watermarks and put their own one on it. They even encouraged James Holmes to murder the people in the theatre, abused a 15 year old who committed suicide and made fun of a girl with Downs Syndrome. Martin, I demand you do a report on the bad side of 9gag (actually there is no good side).

I hate 9gag for the simple fact that they tag their URL under pictures created by others. Bunch of scumbags.

I prefer tumblr and soup.io microblogs; 9gag is one big aggregator which adds watermark to all images uploaded by users from other services.
