Download Master is a useful extension for the Google Chrome web browser that you can use to download multiple files at once from a website.

The browser extension may work in Chrome-compatible browsers such as Vivaldi or Opera as well. You will notice a new icon in the address bar of the browser after installation of the extension that you may activate to bring up the extension's interface.

When you are now on a page that you want to download files from, and files means images, programs, documents and any other form of data that is linked or displayed on that page, you simply click on the icon in the address bar to trigger the process.

Update: Download Master does not work anymore. While you may still download the extension from the Chrome Web Store, all it does is display the first image in the tab regardless of how many images or files you select for download. We suggest you use Download all Images for Chrome for bulk image downloading.

Download Master for Chrome

Download Master scans the page for all files and displays all of them in a window in the browser.

This can be a large file listing depending on the page that you are on. The extension lists all found file names and paths on the server, and the type and size of each file.

To make things more comfortable, filters are added to the top that you can use to automatically select specific file types. If you are for instance on 4Chan, or a wallpaper gallery website, you may only want to download image file types and can select those at the top to do so.

You can furthermore use the selection filter at the top to automatically check matching files in the listing. This works both for file names and extensions. If you want all jpg images to be selected automatically, you could enter .jpg into the filter to do just that. This again works for different kind of files and not just images.

You can customize the selection manually with the mouse before you click on the download button do download all files that you have selected to the local computer.

Google Chrome may display a notification if you try to download multiple files from a site. You need to permit the site to send multiple files your way to download multiple files from a site.

Download Master is a handy extension for Chrome users who occasionally need to download multiple files that are linked or displayed on a single website.

It works well for images but also other file types. Images are probably what most users download when they use the extension as it can grab links to all images on a page giving you options to download them in bulk in one quick operation.

Windows users who need more versatility when it comes to downloading images, can take a look at the excellent Bulk Image Downloader. It is commercial but worth every penny.

    1) Download Master uses your Download Preferences by default.
If you don’t want a save window for each image OR would like
to change the default location. It must be SET AND RESET otherwise
you’ll get your changed settings as your DEFAULT settings. Better
to be able to set the preference OR change it within the extension
rather than using the browser default settings.

    2) Since it downloads IMAGES, sites that use HTML links for their images
don’t / won’t work. It’s not smart enough (compared to ImageHostGrabber
in Firefox) to actually go to and download the images from the page links
instead of just downloading the page links.

It may have it’s use for where neither of these presents an issue. That’s likely
to be the exception rather than the rule.

It’s cool for Chrome users, but Firefox had this feature for years, DownThemAll is a Firefox equivalent and Chrome just can’t keep up with the vastly superior Firefox Addon API, e.g. Chrome addons are the chinese knock offs of Firefox Addons
