TabSense is a free browser extension for Google Chrome that you can use to display all open Chrome tabs on a single page for easy management.

Keeping track of all open tabs in a single browser window, or multiple browser windows, becomes increasingly difficult with an increasing number of open tabs.

Web browsers offer limited space to display open tabs, usually in a toolbar or sidebar. Once the limit is reached web browsers either add a scrollbar that enables users to browse the selection of open tabs in the browser, or reduce the width of each tab open instead.

Google Chrome does the latter up to a point where it is no longer possible to identify tabs open in the browser as they don't show any text or icons that you could use to identify individual websites.

The issue becomes increasingly problematic if multiple browser windows are used at the same time.

TabSense

The Google Chrome extension TabSense offers an overview of all open tabs in the Internet browser.

The extension displays all open tabs on activation, no matter if they are open in the active Chrome window or another Chrome instance.

The Chrome extension adds a new icon to the address bar of the browser. A click on the icon opens a new tab displaying all open tabs in this browser window, and all other Chrome instances.

Each Chrome window is displayed separately on the page.  Underneath it are the tabs open in it at the time of opening the menu. You may name windows which may help identifying them on first glance, especially if several are open at the same time.

Each open tab is listed with the page's favicon -- if available -- and its name. A click on the name switches the active window to that tab, regardless of whether it is a tab of the active window or another Chrome window.

This only works if the Chrome instances are not minimized. The keyboard shortcut Shift-Ctrl-S did not work during our tests, the developer promised to add an option to the extension to customize the shortcut in future version of the add-on.

Tabsense offers better tab management in Chrome, especially for users who work with lots of open tabs, or use multiple Chrome instances.

Newer versions of the Chrome extension show tabs in tree view that highlight where they have originated from. The core feature on the other hand is still that it provides you with an overview of all open tabs in all instances of the web browser.

Note: The extension has not been updated since 2011 but it works just fine in recent versions of the google Chrome web browser (as of February 2016).
