Windows Product Key Finder
Win Key Finder is a free portable program for Microsoft Windows devices to display the operating system's product key and the Office product key.
There may come a time where you need to retrieve the product key from an installed copy of the Windows operating system.
Maybe you want to re-install said operating system after you format the hard drive, or install it anew on a new computer you just build.
While the product key may be printed on the computer, the manual or somewhere else by the OEM, it may not be and won't be if you build the PC yourself.
The only way to retrieve the Windows product key is to use a software program in this case to display the key to you.
Note: Microsoft's Windows 10 operating system is a special case, as it links the product key to the machine or the Microsoft Account so that it may get picked up automatically.
Win Key Finder
Win Key Finder is but one of the many programs that can display product keys in Windows. It supports all Microsoft operating systems from Windows 98 on including the latest release Windows 10. It furthermore supports Microsoft Office and may display Office product keys as well in its interface.
The portable software program displays the Windows version, product key, product ID, installed service packs, owner and organization upon startup. You may switch to Office if you require that key, or in the unlikely case that the computer runs Windows 98 or ME, to that listing.
You may copy, save, print or encrypt the product key using buttons displayed in the interface. There is a change key option, but that one was grayed out during tests. It allows you to change the product key, and it may only work if the operating system is not activated.
You may also modify OEM information -- Owner and Organization -- as a bonus but that does not have anything to do with the product key retrieval. Last but not least, you may also check the activation status of the operating system.
WinKeyfinder is a tiny (sub 100K) program for Windows that is easy to use. Basically, all you do is run it to display the Windows product key.
WinKeyFinder supports both 32-bit and 64-bit editions of the Windows operating system and is one of the fastest most comfortable options to display the operating system's product key.Advertisement
