2008 Preview - gHacks Tech News

2008 Preview

I hope you all had a nice evening yesterday. I would like to take the opportunity and preview the things to come in 2008. 2007 was an astonishing year for Ghacks and I have great plans so that 2008 will exceed the last year in all terms. You can expect roughly 1500 new posts this year written by me which should keep you up to date with all the latest trends, programs, services and hacks that you can imagine.

My guest authors will hopefully contribute 500 articles as well which means that we will publish 2000 articles in 2008 altogether. You might have noticed that the Friday Fun series was discontinued here at Ghacks. This is not because I do not like it but because I'm going to build a new blog that has only one topic: games.

It will cover free online games plus free games that can be downloaded and introduce one game per day to the readers. That's my first project for 2008. The next big thing is a web 2.0 project that I'm currently programming and designing with a friend which will hopefully launch in January.

It will run in Alpha for a month or two and you can be sure that I will throw out alpha invites like crazy here on Ghacks. Be prepared there is more to come.

My wishes:

  • Write more comments. If you like something, or don't like something, want to add something or point to an alternative then DO IT. I love comments.
  • If you want to publish an article at Ghacks as a guest author then DO IT. Just contact me and if it meets the requirements it will be published.
  • I'm still looking for someone with experience in Direct Ad Sales. The person would get a percentage of every deal that closes for my blog and several other blogs that are as successful. If you know someone that can do it tell him about this opportunity.

What about you? Do you have plans for 2008?

We need your help

Advertising revenue is falling fast across the Internet, and independently-run sites like Ghacks are hit hardest by it. The advertising model in its current form is coming to an end, and we have to find other ways to continue operating this site.

We are committed to keeping our content free and independent, which means no paywalls, no sponsored posts, no annoying ad formats or subscription fees.

To me, today ain’t much different from yesterday, so I don’t make special plans in that regard (though a lot will change for me this year).

Anyway, your plans sound exciting – looking forward to it all!

I don’t make New Years resolutions like most people do, so I never disappoint myself when I break them. ;)
Best wishes for the New Year Martin. Hope everything works out like you plan it. Sounds like it will be a great year. I look forward to the new projects you’re working on. I may even take a stab at guest authoring too if I come across something that might fit with the site.
