I personally think that is is very important to use software that anonymizes you whenever possible for most of the tasks on the Internet. All of your movement and actions are tracked and can be easily traced back to you which is probably something that most users on the Internet are either unaware of or do not like at all if they know that this is the case.
One major problem are P2P networks where anonymity is not that easily achieved. If you do lack the technical background you will face severe difficulties on the road to anonymity. There is however a great solution if you want to be anonymous while downloading and sharing files on Bittorrent.
"Unlike many other anonymizing networks, I2P doesn't try to provide anonymity by hiding the originator of some communication and not the recipient, or the other way around. I2P is designed to allow peers using I2P to communicate with each other anonymously — both sender and recipient are unidentifiable to each other as well as to third parties."
Here is what has to be done to setup the anonymous bittorrent client:
You may now add Torrents by either browsing your local computer or pasting a url with the torrent information.
The speed seems to be a little bit lower than usual which is caused by the anonymization. I think that the download rates are still acceptable if you consider that you download and share anonymously.

Umm… port 4444. Is the programmer Asian? If so, I would really really really take a hard look at this program before I run it outside of a sandbox. 4 is synonymous with DEATH in the Asian dialects. This may be a hacker’s snicker at it’s targets. And since I don’t like to have my ISP traced to any P2P’s at this time, I can’t check it in my sandbox.
You choose the port number yourself. i2p has a whole lot of creators, but I think most are from Germany.
I use a strong Internet Security Suite so i don’t use anonymizer…anyway thanks for the nice post and tutorial!
strong security suit? what the fuck has that to do with an anonimizer?
There’s no need to be overly cautious though. But yeah, guess it’s worth a try.
I tried this, but I just couldn’t figure it out. Somebody help me out
You wrote an article about how to remain anonymous on the internet and offered the I2P download, and the first thing it did was ask me for my email address! What part of anonymous do you not understand?
You do understand that you do not necessarily have to use your own email address, right? You could use temporary email addresses for instance.
How to use the i2p proxy through other torrent clients? sat bittorrent 7.2? the port will be http 4444 or http 7657 or socks 7657?
