Lie Detector for Skype

If you ever wanted to know if a person you are talking to on Skype is telling the truth you may want to give the KishKish Lie Detector plugin für Skype a try. Just download the plugin from the developers website and run the file once the download has been completed.

It will automatically assign itself to Skype and you will have to give permission when Skype is running for the first time to use the plugin's functionality in the communication software.

Once that is done a new window appears that is giving you information about the Stress Level of the person you are talking to. It needs some time to calibrate but once that is done it displays the Stress level in a graph.

I'm not sure how reliable this method is, I tested it with a friend and it seemed to display rather strange results. You should also note that the person you are talking to will receive information in the chat window about the plugin that you are using so it cannot be used as a stealthy way of finding out if a chat partner is telling the truth.

It seems to be free to use for now, not sure though how long this will remain. It looks more like a nice gimmick at the moment than a serious application. Let me know if you have better results using it.

It needs to be noted that you need to be very careful when you are interpreting the results, as it may otherwise lead to information that may not be correct. Since information about the plugin are displayed to the person that you are talking to on Skype, it can also very well be that the sheer fact of that is enough to increase the person's stress level while talking to you.

Update: The lie detector for Skype is no longer available. The developer site has shut down, and while you can download the program from third-party sites, it is likely that it won't be working anymore due to changes Skype made to the program in the meantime.

I think you’ll have to notify people that you are recording, otherwise they can sue…
