Microsoft released like every month an ISO image of the security releases of this month to the public. It is mainly intended for system administrators who need to apply the updates to a number of computers without using an automated solution.
Software Updates Week 51 2007
Just two more Software Updates post to make in this year before the new year will hopefully bring some awesome new programs and applications to use and write about. As usual the list is made of applications that have been introduced here at my site before and have been updated in the last seven days.
Microsoft releases security updates for XP and Vista
Once in a month Microsoft releases their so called Security Bulletins in which they announce security updates for several of their operating systems and other products. The current Security Bulletin for December lists seven vulnerabilities that have been fixed including three critical and four important ones.
Software Updates Week 49 2007
Wednesday is the day of the week where I look back at the software updates of the last seven days and put them all in one huge article that helps everyone keep up to date with software that has been updated. Only software that was mentioned before here at Ghacks is listed in the article, everything else received its own article anyway and will be included in later articles.
Microsoft Security Release ISO Images
Microsoft is releasing a monthly Security Release Iso image which contains the security releases of that month packed on one Iso image. The benefit of this approach is not really obvious for home computers running just one version of an operating system by Microsoft but for networks with lots of installed operating systems.
Software Updates Week 47 2007
It is Wednesday again which means it is time for the weekly software updates article that lists all software that has been mentioned before at Ghacks and has been updated in the last seven days. I keep track of those updates by using a mix of RSS Feeds, bookmarks and software download portals.
Restart your computer to finish installing important updates
While the automatic update function in Windows XP and Vista is a good way to keep your system up to date with the latest patches it has the nasty habit to nag the user after downloading the patches to the computer. I suppose everyone has received a message that asks the user if he wants to reboot now or reboot later in XP or the dialog box that asks you to restart your computer to finish installing important updates in Windows Vista.
