According to Digital Inspiration that’s the case if you are using Windows XP because leaving the password blank makes it impossible to connect to the computer remotely. The link given in the article which points to the Password Strength & Password Security page at Microsoft.com is unfortunately not available at this point.

Microsoft released a new version of their monthly security releases ISO images which contain all the security patches of that month. This is not really suitable for home users who only have to patch one computer but a good way of patching computers in a network without having to download the patches from every computer manually.

I more than once asked myself why I had so many svchost processes running when opening the task manager which displayed no additional information on the process. I needed another software that would help me analyze the svchost processes and determine if they were really needed or even malicious.
