Windows 7 ships with a weather gadget that can display the weather conditions in a specific place or location. Gadgets on the other hand have the disadvantage that windows can block their view. If you want to look at the weather report, you therefor may have to minimize all windows, or use a shortcut, to do so.

WeatherBar for Windows 7 offers an alternative way of displaying weather information on the operating system. The weather software displays relevant information directly in the Windows 7 taskbar, so that it is not longer necessary to minimize windows to see the current weather report.

When you start the portable software for the first time, you will need to change the default location. This is done with a click on the edit icon in the main program interface.

Just enter your city and country, the program should pick the right location based on the data.

The main program window displays the current weather conditions and the weather forecast for the next three days. Besides that you get information about the current humidity and wind speed and direction.

Users can switch to the metric data format in the program options. The program indicates the current weather conditions in the Windows taskbar when minimized.

The icon indicates the current condition, the color the humidity levels.

A right-click on the program icon displays the application’s jumplist that lists the current weather conditions and forecast as tasks in the window.

WeatherBar is a handy, lightweight weather reporting software for the Windows 7 operating system. No information are provided if the program is compatible with previous versions of windows. The program would however lose much of its functionality if it is compatible under those versions of Windows as well.

Windows users can download WeatherBar from the project website <a

These weather information can be retrieved numerous way, for example by listening to Radio, watching TV or calling a weather hotline. Something that was missing in the picture was a reliable live weather forecast for computers. Most PC applications would display a weather forecast and other information on a daily basis which might be not enough for some businesses.

Weather Watcher Live tries to fill that gap by providing updated weather information throughout the day.The update interval can be anything from realtime to a period between five minutes and five hours. The interval does not only depend on your settings but also on the update frequency of the Weatherbug or local weather station.

The main window of Weather Watcher Live displays hourly forecasts, the current temperature and a wealth of other information like high and low temperatures throughout the day or the humidity level.

Weather Watcher application from the same company. Units can be displayed in the system used in your country, for example Fahrenheit or Celsius for the temperature. The options are also the place where at least one town name or zip code has been entered before the application can be used.

The main window can be minimized and most information can be displayed in a system tray popup by hovering the mouse over the Weather Watcher Live icon.

<img

In addition to the weather updates severe alerts are displayed for the United States as well. Those alerts can be filtered to include or exclude specific phrases.

<a

Today it is a straightforward weather forecast which can be updated every time the iPod is connected to the computer that is running the weather for me software. Using weather for me is actually pretty simple. After you have downloaded the software you have to enter your name and email (or fake ones).

After that you have to configure weather for me by adding the city that you want the weather forecast for and some other settings. You can choose between English and Metric units and opt to save the forecasts. You will have to supply a city code to the program which can be obtained by visiting the my forecast website and entering the city of your choice. Every city has a code in its url that starts with city= ; the number behind that is the city code which needs to be added to weather for me.

The last step would be to click on the button download weather now to my ipod which will download and add the weather information to your iPod. Weather for me has a autosync option which is a command line parameter. To be able to autosync the iPod with the latest forecasts you have to create a shortcut of the file and add the parameter -sync to it. You still need to add it to the autostart of windows to be able to do it automatically.
