The software supports 90 video portals currently including Youtube, Google Video, Yahoo Video, Myspace, Dailymotion, Bebo, Break, Metacafe and Stage6.

Videos can be downloaded by pasting their url in the tool. If you want to download more than one file you can use the queue manager or provide the url of the Youtube playlist which will download the videos that you want from it. Videos are automatically converted into another format (avi, mpg, mp4, psp, 3gp, mov..) after download if you choose so.

Some functions of the utility are still experimental but very promising. Users can log into Youtube for instance to download private videos from the website. The video capture function will monitor a network card which will automatically download videos from the supported websites to a folder on your hard drive.

Specific templates can be chosen to convert videos. Templates are available for (S)VCD, DVD, iPOD, PSP plus several more. I experienced one crash during my test but other than that the software is running solid and stable.

One great way to download multiple videos at once is to use the free software Ashampoo ClipFinder which offers a way to search for and download video files from various popular video portals such as Youtube, Google Video, Dailymotion and a handful of others.

Registration of the program is a bit of a hassle. You do need to give them an email address of yours where they send a verification code to. This involves signing up for a newsletter which can be unsubscribed after getting the code. Once that is out of the way you can start the software normally and take a look at the interface first.

Just enter a search term in one of the search boxes of the various video portals and the results will be displayed in a matter of seconds. From there you can navigate through the results, open a larger view of the results or play and download videos that you have selected.

It is even possible to search on multiple sites at once and download videos simultaneously. Playback is also done in the ClipFinder software which means you do not have to use a browser once for the whole operation. Clipfinder offers a great way to search, play and download videos from various video portals without leaving the program once.
