So Long Pidgin.

Last week I posted an article discussing some of the issues with messaging application Digsby, and why for now I chose to instead use Pidgin.
My conclusion was that although Digsby is a fantastic messaging client with good design and features, the 70mb+ RAM usage became just too much to put up with.

Update Windows with Offline Update

Autopatcher was the perfect solution to update your Windows operating system while it lasted. You could download all patches to your local computer and execute them there. This made it possible to download patches once and update several computers locally without download the patches several times from Microsoft servers.

Battle of the Software Updaters

Keeping the installed software on your computer up to date can be a time consuming task considering that users tend to have 100+ applications installed on their computers at the same time. To make matters worse there is no general way – like in Linux – to update your applications. Some offer build in update notifications but most do not have this feature.

Firefox 2.0.0.2 Update released

A new update for Firefox has been released and can be downloaded from the official Mozilla website or by using the upgrade option in Firefox directly. Just click on Help, Check for Updates to download the latest build which adds some improvements to Firefox. The release notes state that the developers fixed seven security issues. Other improvements include Windows Vista support and the addition of several new languages.

Make Clean Installs with Vista Update DVDs

For some time everyone thought that it was only possible to use a Vista update DVD from within Windows XP to update to the latest operating system. The Windows XP key would become invalid and the Vista installation could commence. DailyTech posted a workaround which makes it possible to install Windows Vista using a Vista update DVD without XP.
