If you missed a show it meant that you either had to be lucky to watch rerun before the next episode or to know someone who taped the show on VHS. If you were unlucky you missed the show with no option to watch it before the next episode aired.

Today things are a lot better for tv junkies. If you miss your favorite show you have a good chance to find it online available at an official site or if you are really desperate as a stream or download on third party sites.

Remember to Watch offers an online service for people who want to make sure not to miss a tv show when it airs. The service is limited to US television shows and can either email your or send you an SMS to remind you that your favorite tv show is about to air.

The homepage displays a list of upcoming tv shows. Each show is displayed with its name, tags, the time it airs and two links to subscribe to reminders. Here it is possible to subscribe to a single episode or all future episodes of that particular show.

You can only subscribe to tv shows and events if you have an account. Registration is free and should not take more than a minute. Email notifications are enabled by default. A mobile phone number needs to be entered before mobile phone notifications become available.

All subscribed to tv shows are displayed in the members area after log in as well. Here it is then possible to unsubscribe or change settings like the alert time which can be changed from 30 minutes to 15 or 60 minutes. This is the time that you receive notifications about an upcoming tv show.

Many popular shows are available for selection. while you find lots of tv shows there it is likely that you won’t find all listed.

Remember To Watch nevertheless is an interesting service for users who need a reminder every now and then to watch their favorite tv show. This obviously works best if they are near a tv. One of the uses could be to act as a “end work for the day” reminder if the tv show happens to air in the afternoon / evening.

You can try out Remember to Watch <a

Filenames usually contain the tv show name, episode and season, format and group that released it. The information are helpful prior to downloading the TV series releases as they help the user identify the show and quality of the release.

Some users who have downloaded the tv series rename them on their computer, especially if episodes of a show have been downloaded from multiple sources as this often means different naming conventions.

Renaming the filenames manually might be an option if a handful of tv shows are stored on the computer, it becomes a nuisance if the count passes a few dozen.

TV Show Renamer is a free program for the Windows operating system that can be used to rename tv shows automatically.

It works by adding TV episodes to the program, options are available to pick specific files or a folder. A handful of conversion options are available of which all are selected at the beginning.

They will for instance replace “.” with ” “, remove “-”, capitalize and remove crap that’s not part of the TV show’s name or season / episode.

rename tv series

Conversion options that are not needed can be unselected from the options.

It is furthermore possible to specify the season and episode format. The default format is 1×01 which can be changed to 0101, S01E01 or 1-1-2010.

A click on the Convert button renames the TV shows that have been added to the program.

TV Show Renamer has no preview option. It is however possible to undo changes. Satisfactory results can then be moved or copied to another location on the computer.

It may happen that the tv series filenames still contain words that are needed. Additional junk words can be added in the other options category. These words are then removed from the filenames automatically.

Another option provided by the program is the ability to add text that the program should always replace with other text. This can be helpful to rename abbreviations like WS to Widescreen for instance.

TV Show Renamer provides an interesting option for TV series downloaders to rename their downloaded shows automatically.

The program could use a preview function, preferably right in the main interface and automation to perform the renaming automatically.

The software is compatible with 32-bit and 64-bit editions of the Windows operating system. Downloads are <a

Meanwhile Amazon and NBC announced that NBC’s tv shows will be made available on Unbox.

Unbox ? Yes, that’s the video download service that imposes more restrictions on the user but apparently more flexible when it comes to bulk pricing and discounts. Users can only use Unbox is they have a computer with a Microsoft Windows operating system. Linux and Mac can’t use it which does not seem to bother NBC or Amazon at all.

One of the likely package deals offered is a 30% discount if you buy the complete season of a tv show. This discount is of course given on the sum that all single episodes would cost and NBC made it very clear that they could go as high as $4.99 for one single episode download.

So, to keep it short. NBC ditches Apple iTunes to work with Amazon Unbox instead which offers them more flexibility in pricing. You did not read about the people anywhere in this article ? That’s easy to explain, the people – aka the consumers – don’t matter at all.

I suppose NBC thinks that they will switch to Unbox because they want the shows so badly. I would suggest you show them otherwise.
