Devices with yellow icons are unknown devices that give you almost zero information about the type of the device. The freeware Unknown Device Identifier displays a list of unknown, disconnected or old devices with information about each of those devices.

Each device contains information about the manufacturer, OEM name, device type, device model and even the name of the device. It is therefor easy to identify the device and right-click the device to search for drivers for the device or contact the vendor using the program itself.

It would not be a problem however to use a normal search engine to find a driver instead of the build in search. The biggest problem that I see is that a lot of devices are shown and it could be quite complicated to find the correct one that corresponds to the yellow icon in the device manager.

Autohotkey

Tools

application

automate

freeware

hotkey

mouse

Open Source

strokes

tool

Autohotkey is a nice little freeware application that has many purposes. Take a look at its features:

#Automate almost anything by sending keystrokes and mouse clicks. You can write a mouse or keyboard macro by hand or use the macro recorder.
#Create hotkeys for keyboard, joystick, and mouse. Virtually any key, button, or combination can become a hotkey.
#Expand abbreviations as you type them. For example, typing “btw” can automatically produce “by the way”.
#Create custom data entry forms, user interfaces, and menu bars. See GUI for details.
#Remap keys and buttons on your keyboard, joystick, and mouse.
#Respond to signals from hand-held remote controls via the WinLIRC client script.
#Run existing AutoIt v2 scripts and enhance them with new capabilities.
#Convert any script into an EXE file that can be run on computers that don’t have AutoHotkey installed.

<span

Add date-stamps, replace numbers, insert strings, convert case, add auto-numbers, process folders and subfolders.

Lets say you have a digital camera and create lots of pictures when your on holidays. Those cameras normally name the pictures DSC000001.jpg and its kinda hard to search through those pictures. It would be much easier if you could rename those files with ease so that the filename itself gives you information about the pictures. Pictures of your December 2005 trip to Colorado could be named 2005_12_colorado_001.jpg for example. Easier to recognize isn´t it ? Well, Bulk Renamer can do this for you.

<span

Its a tedious task to enter the information that are required by hand. You often have to add more information than the username and password, name and location for instance.

Auto It is able to help you fill those fields automatically, but not only that. It uses a combination of simulated keystrokes, mouse movement and window/control manipulation in order to automate tasks. AutoIt v3 is a freeware BASIC-like scripting language designed for automating the Windows GUI and general scripting.

The tool is free and small (only 115 KB), check the authors homepage at autoitscript.com to download the newest version.

AutoIt version 3: Create BASIC-Like Scripting to Automate the Windows GUI

The use of Visual Basic is familiar to programmers and various users who create applications. If you want to create a simple standalone application to simplify repetitive tasks, there is another way and many users are discovering this. For example, if you run an internet business that uses a website that has field entries for membership and saved shipping information, you would usually have to enter that information manually. You can create an application with Visual Basic that will do this for you, but it could be fairly complicated depending upon the situation.

Go to http://www.autoitscript.com and discover the latest version of AutoIt. This is freeware that uses a combination of simulated keystrokes, mouse movement and window/ control variables to automate tasks. This is not the same thing as creating hotkeys or shortcuts. This is a genuine and fairly small download that will give you the ability to automate tasks without runtime.

AutoIt is a powerful language supporting complex expressions, user functions, loops, and all other aspects of scripting for automation. The download site listed above will provide the following information to clarify the functions of this language:

Features:

Easy to learn BASIC-like syntax

Simulate keystrokes and mouse movements

Manipulate windows and processes

Interact with all standard windows controls

Scripts can be compiled into standalone executables

Create Graphical User Interfaces (GUIs)

COM support

Regular expressions

Directly call external DLL and Windows API functions

Scriptable RunAs functions

Detailed helpfile and large community-based support forums

Compatible with Windows 2000 / XP / 2003 / Vista / 2008 /
Windows 7 / 2008 R2

Unicode and x64 support

Digitally signed for peace of mind

Works with Windows Vista’s User Account Control (UAC)

This is a standalone design that was designed to be compact and used without any external .dll files or Registry entries. Using Aut2Exe, scripts can be easily compiled into standalone .exe applications. This means that you can create an executable that will take the entry information from your website and automatically integrate it into your database. You will have to use the AutoIt syntax to do this, but it saves time and effort compared to Visual Basic.

There are many functions that this can serve besides taking fill-in field data and integrating it. This could be used to automate functions on the Windows operating system. If you are using one or more .NET or ASP servers, you can utilize the syntax to bridge repetitive tasks that would normally take up time and effort.

This was originally designed to configure large networks of thousands of PCs. This makes sense because you would want a simple syntax for such a situation. Many businesses that operate through the internet and many blogs as well as informational sites will benefit from this. This is free, simple, and will deliver results. Though it may sound like a sales pitch, it is more like an appeal to check this out. Give it a try and see what you can accomplish.
