href="http://www.ghacks.net/2011/09/12/cherrytomato-pomodoro-technique-software-timer/">Cherry Tomato does that for instance automatically by gathering information about the windows that are in the front of the screen. Other programs like Chronometask, Free Light Timer or Time ComX offer timing functionality as well.

Most however do not allow you to keep track of multiple timers the way WatchMe does. The program allows you to create multiple timers to keep track of your day to day activities. The main program window displays all timers, controls to start, stop and reset their time, individual times for each timer and the total time of all timers.

You can start, stop and reset each timer individually. New timers can be added easily from the Timers menu. The program even supports tabs to group timers, for instance by day of the week or type of work.

Besides the ability to name each timer individually, it is possible to add notes to timers, which can be useful to document processes or keep track of things that have been done in the time. Timer alerts can be configured to notify you when a set period of time has elapsed.

You can further configure the program in the Options. Here you can change the default time format from the default hours:minutes:second to another one, e.g. minutes or $ per hour, change colors, enable the stay focused option or enable warnings.

There are also options to export data as csv or xml files to import them into other applications like Microsoft Excel or other timer applications.

WatchMe can be a very useful application for users and businesses alike. This can be used to keep track of different work related tasks. Tech support for instance could use timers to keep track of the time they spend on the phone, replying to emails, using remote desktop sessions, communicate with employees in person or walk around in the building to get things fixed.

Windows users can download the latest version of WatchMe from the developer website. The program is compatible with all recent 32-bit and 64-bit editions of the Microsoft Windows operating system (starting with Windows XP). It also requires the Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 to run. Results are cold tee, missed phone calls or email reports that I just forgot to send while working. An alarm clock, or timer, aids in preventing situations like the one mentioned in the previous sentence.

Chronometask is a timer / alarm clock for the Windows operating system that can not only notify the user but also perform tasks like running a program or script.

The timer is available as a portable version and installer. The functionality of both program versions is identical otherwise.

The interface displays the current date and time, as well as the timer, with minutes and seconds displayed separately.

The time can be increased with a click on the up and down arrow icons at the bottom of the interface, or with a click on the set timer icon. The latter displays an input form to enter a custom time in hours, minutes and seconds.

Actions are defined with a click on the action button. This opens a new window. The default action is always set to sound an alarm. Additional actions can be configured in the same interface. It is possible to display a custom message on the screen, execute a program by adding its full system path to the action interface, or to initiate a shutdown, restart or log off. The sound alert and messages can be configured to loop indefinitely here.

A click on start timer starts the countdown. The configured actions are executed once the clock reaches zero.

The only other feature of Chronometask is a stop watch which can be launched from the associated button in the interface.

Chronometask is an easy to use timer for the Windows operating system. Its options to run a program or shut down the computer make it superior to timers which only support notifications or alarms.

Windows users can download Chronometask from the developer website. The application tested fine on a 64-bit Windows 7 Professional system, it should run fine on most versions of the Windows operating system.

Reminder Software Remind Me In

Software

Windows

alarm software

remind

remind me in

reminder

reminder software

timer

timer software

window software
<guid

It should be compatible with most editions and versions of Microsoft Windows including Windows XP and Windows Vista. An icon will be placed in the Windows system tray after installation which can be used configure the reminders.

A right-click on the icon of the reminder software opens a menu that can be used to set a reminder for a specific time in the future. About a dozen different options like setting one or five minute reminders are offered as presets. Another option is the ability to create a custom reminder by entering a value in minutes.

<span

Remind Me In is therefor more of an alarm clock software than a reminder software. It still can have its uses for some users, for example to remind the user to take the pizza out of the oven.

The software uses only about three Megabytes of computer memory while running. It would be excellent if the developer would add an option to add a note to the reminder. Remind Me In can be downloaded directly from the developer’s website.

Time Management Software Timeleft

Software

Windows

auction watch

time management

timeleft

timer

windows countdown

windows reminders

windows software

windows stopwatch
<guid

Among these the ability to create reminders, countdowns, stopwatches, auction watches and various others that make it one of the most complete applications in that field. The free version of the application is good for one timer function in each category which should be sufficient for most purposes. Timeleft will display two initial timers after installation and program start that show the current clock and a New Year countdown.

It will also display a quick task window that can be used to add or edit new widgets quickly.

The options provided to edit or add a new widget are extensive. A click on any of the buttons in the quick task window will open the applications’s main window that contains the various widgets that can be created on the left side and the existing widgets of the active category on the right.

A click on the add or edit button will open a properties window for the selected widget type that contains many options to choose from including titles, layout, formats, skins and visual effects like transparency and borders.

The active widgets can be moved around on the computer desktop easily. They are set to stay on top of other windows so that they are always visible. This among many other settings can be changed in the main program options.

One interesting widget is the Auction Watch add-on which can be installed as a plugin for Firefox and Internet Explorer.

This allows the user to watch auctions with the program running in the background and receive reminders when an auction reaches the end.

Verdict:

<a

Not that I forget, just if I’m enjoying my work time flies by. Cooktimer is a small application I found that comes to my rescue in these cases!

You can of course use it so you don’t forget your dinner in the over, or remember to switch the stove off, but for me there are many other uses, including the ones I mentioned. You can also use it to remember to take a rest every now and again, or if you hate distractions, to remember to check your email every 30 minutes.

The great thing about this app is that it is very lightweight, no installation required and will reside in memory while the timer is active. Many of you already have billions of applications running, and you don’t need to log timings, add multiple timers and so on, so this could be perfect, just set and forget. If any of you have any other timer suggestions, let us know!

<span

Some people manage to keep all their appointments in their head while others have to rely on tools like calendars to remember them. One specialized tool is a timer application which counts down until the event is about to begin.

Timers can be used for other purposes as well like learning a language for the next hour or timing the cooking perfectly. Cool Timer is one of those timer applications that can be used as a countdown timer, alarm clock or stopwatch which covers everything that can be done with a timer.

The timer application can be set to a maximum of 99 hours, 59 minutes and 59 seconds which only makes sense when in countdown mode. The options control most of the program’s features like setting the alarm options. Alarm options can be set to play a sound either from build in sounds or from audio files located on the computer with the option to loop the audio file indefinitely until the user reacts.

<span

The message is showing up in big letters centered on the screen. The application can be minimized to the system tray where it will run silently until the set criteria is met.

The timer application needs about 1.6 Megabytes of computer memory in the taskbar and about 2.5 Megabytes in the System Tray.

Windows Timer

Operating Systems

Software

Windows

time events

timer
<guid

If it’s in the same room I use that clock. It’s not really precise up to the millisecond though and someone who wants to time something, whatever something is, exactly would need another way, or better, another timer to do so.

Enter the tiny Timer application. It’s only 4 Kilobyte -unpacked 8 KB – imagine that. Timer provides an interface that starts or stops the timing whenever it is pressed. That’s right, the whole interface is the button. Would be hard to miss that one, don’t you think ? It times the exact amount of milliseconds, seconds, minutes and hours up to 99 hours, 59 minutes, 59 seconds and 999 milliseconds. Guess it crashes once you let it run that long. Maybe we can ask the dude who tested the iPhone timer if he wants to test this one as well..

Timer provides a few options that can be useful. One is that Timer will always be on top of other windows which is a pretty good idea if you want to time something on the computer. The others are the time format and a hotkey that can be added and a copy time to clipboard function.

Great application from the good old days, still working perfectly though.
