The reason for this is that it is possible to tag friends in photos automatically. Those information are then not only available on the profile of the user who tagged the photo, but also on the profile of the tagged user. Even worse, the photos appear in the user’s photo time line on the profile page. Plus, you also receive notifications when users comment on a photo that you are tagged in.

One could say that you better pick your friends carefully on Facebook, but we all know that this is not always possible. Facebook fortunately has implemented an option called tag reviews which allow a user to review tagged photos before they become visible on the Facebook profile page.

To enable tag reviews on Facbeook, you need to click on the down arrow in the main toolbar next to your user name and the Home link and select Privacy Settings from the menu that opens up.

Locate How Tags Work – control what happens when friends tag you or your content, and click the Edit Settings button next to it.

This opens an overlay menu with five options to change.

Profile Review of posts friends tag you in before they go on your profile (note: tags may still appear elsewhere on Facebook)

Tag Review of tags that friends want to add to your posts

Maximum Profile Visibility of posts you’re tagged in once they’re on your profile

Tag Suggestions when friends upload photos that look like you

Friends Can Check You Into Places using the mobile Places app

Tag Review is the second option in the list. Just click on the arrow icon next to it to turn it on. This displays an informational page where you can turn on tag reviews on Facebook.

Once you enable the feature you will receive notifications whenever you have been tagged by another user in a photo. You can also turn on the Profile Review feature to approve or deny being tagged in friend’s posts that are displayed on your own profile.

Lastly, you can change the maximum profile visibility for posts that you are tagged in. You could for instance make it only visible to yourself, to friends or a specific group of users.

Making the changes to the tag privacy settings can really improve your privacy on Facebook and reduce the amount of unwanted posts and notifications that appear on your Facebook profile page. Music needs to be added to the database on the start. This is done by selecting a root folder on the computer drive and letting the program search that folder – and optionally – the subfolders as well. The music that is found will be added to the program’s database. It is furthermore possible to run folder updates so that only new or changed files get added to the database.

The music that has been found is then listed in the main program interface. The left sidebar will by default list the artist and album names while the right larger area the music in the currently selected folder.

It is possible to change the view to various other formats like year and artist, genre and artist or by first letter. All of those information are taken from tags and the file names of the music.

The main window lists the songs with tags that include the title, artist and album plus others if available. A quick search is provided at the top which can be used to filter the music listing based on the tags and the keyword entered by the user.

The program offers an advanced search as well which can combine basic searches.

A double-click on a song will open the Edit track menu where tags and other information can be edited. It is here possible to download album covers and lyrics individually. A better way of adding covers or lyrics to the music collection is to select multiple tracks and use the Tools > Download track lyrics or Download album covers option to speed up the process.

AllMySongs Database does not seem to use cover art tags or lyrics that have already been added. The covers and lyrics that it finds are also only available in the program and not in other music players.

That’s a serious disadvantage for users who want to play the music with all the information that they have found in other programs and music players as well.

The program does offer additional options to download information about a track, album or artist including an artist’s biography and photo.

AllMySongs Database is an easy to use program to manage a music collection. It has some good options like the search and filters but its main disadvantage is the incompatibility of the downloaded information with other music players.

Installation:

AllMySongs Database is provided as a single zip file which extracts to a setup.exe and a readme document that contains the registration information. The setup of the program itself is straightforward. The program itself needs to be run as an administrator. Users need to register AllMySongs Database today. This can be done by going into Help > Register at the top and entering the name and code that is outlined in the readme file and the setup.

Positive

Ability to download artist photos, lyrics, biographies and covers that are however only available in the program

Single and mass edits

Lots of filter and search options

Playlist creation

Negative

Information that are downloaded, like covers for instance, are only available in AllMysongs Database but not in other programs.

Basic music player

Needs admin rights to run

Alternatives:

The Godfather are but two of the alternatives. Both write tags in a way that they can be read and used by other music players as well.

AllMySongs Database is free today at the <a

The search usually finds file names and directories but can also search for information contained in the files, at least some file types like documents.

Tag 2 Find uses a different approach. It brings the tags known from indexing websites to the computer desktop. It is currently available in a preview version for the Windows operating system. Users who have been using services like Delicious and Flickr or run their own blog will be immediately comfortably with the software program. Any file located on the computer system can be tagged by the user. No user would want to tag all files as this would mean to work with hundreds of thousands of files which could take a lifetime. The software program can assist the user by automatically suggesting tags based on file names, directory names, file extensions and even metadata for multimedia files.

It is furthermore possible to include and exclude drives from the program completely. The software program will display a wizard after installation that is walking the user through the first initial configuration. The user can pick drives, directories and files that he wants to tag right away. Tag 2 Find can also be integrated in Windows Explorer to add tags right away for selected files.

It would be impracticable if the application window would have to be opened to search the files and tags. The application is therefor offering a floating transparent search window that can be moved around on the computer desktop. Entering tags into that search form will open another transparent connected window that is displaying the results which include hits, partial hits and related tags. A click on a resulting tag will show all the file names that have been tagged with the word or phrase.

Tag 2 Find can monitor the computer system for new files. The folders that are monitored can be defined in the application. It is for instance monitoring the Windows Clipboard and will display files that are copied to it for a while waiting for user input.

Additional options that might be interesting for some users are access to a tag cloud, automatic category management for selected file types, color coding tabs, drag and drop support plus import and export options for tags. It is really surprising how stable and extensive this early version of the software program is.

The only downside is the rather large resource usage. The software program uses roughly 23 Megabytes of computer memory while displaying the floating tags search box and about 53 Megabytes of virtual memory. Tag 2 Find runs on Windows XP or Windows Vista and requires the Microsoft .net Framework 2.0, an NTFS formatted file system (at least on the partitions that contain files that the user wants to tag and administrative privileges during installation.

Use Mp3tag to organize your music collection

Music and Video

Tools

id3

mp3

tag

Mp3tag has always been my favorite, since it not only allows tag editing, but is capable of handling bul operations and pulling album info from the web. If you find an old-old CD, or a compilation CD you did, it might not contain tags. With Mp3tag you can eaisly add the same album name to all the files at once, or (if it’s an original CD track list) you can pull the data from the web, 2 clicks and all tags are added.

There are also loads of power options, like the ability to convert tags to filenames, with the parameters you need, creating file names with rules and so on. You can use the auto numbering tool to add the track numbers quickly, case conversion tool to convert all the names and titles to the format you like. Basically Mp3tag is an ID3 tagging “suite”, with all the tools you need to organize your music collection. Let us know if you have a different personal favorite!

<span

I’m not that of a music buff who needs his files tagged properly all the time. One reason could be the small size of my mp3 collection, another that I do not transfer mp3s that often to my mp3 player or Nokia N73 mobile phone. Toe Tag is another nicely looking mp3 tagger with an immense amount of options and functions that is pretty astonishing if you consider that the version is currently 0.1.1.0.

The interface does look a bit overladen at first. It is driven by four tabs at the top that let you transfer filenames to tags, tags to filenames, multi tag files and query the online CDDDB database for tags. The tag to filename option is very handy if the files are already properly tagged but the filenames are not in the format that you want them to be. Five Replacement shortcuts exist that can be applied, not only in this menu though. The five entries are artist, album, number, title and year. It is therefor possible to create a filename that would contain the track number, artist and title.

Other mandatory options are to replace spaces with _ and to change the capitalization of the filenames in a number of ways. Multiple files can be selected at once but it normally does not make sense to select more than one album. Toe Tag is directory driven which means that only the files of one directory are displayed at a time. If you want to change tags or filenames of your music collection you are in for some manual labor.

<img

Since this is a very early version this feature might be implemented in a later version.

Other important features are already available. Covers can be added to the files, the volume can be normalized which is a very nice feature. The tags are saved in ID3 format.

Check out your surfing habits with page addict

Browsing

Firefox

add on

firefox-extensions

mozilla

mozilla-firefox

page-addict

record-time

tag

tag-websites

usage

websites

work
<guid
