The cleaner resembles the popular program CCleaner. It dividedes the data that can be cleaned into the three tabs Windows, Applications and Browsers. These tabs are further divided into sections such as Windows History, Productivity or File Sharing.

Each section lists multiple program or data locations that can be cleaned by SlimCleaner. The Analyze button starts a scan of the system for the selected entries and displays the results in list form at the end.

Each program or storage location that was found during the scan is displayed with the total amount of files and the combined data size on the computer. It is possible to run the cleaner right away, or click on any entry to view a detailed listing of every file, with the possibility to exclude items from the cleanup.

The optimization tool makes use of information from the cloud to rate a program in the startup tab. The rating gives the user immediate information about the startup program, which may be used to decide whether to remove it from the startup or not.

Each program entry is listed with a rating, publisher and startup command.

The Services tab lists all services and their current, original and supercharged state. Supercharged here is a special services configuration created by the developers of the software. It basically changes states to optimize the system.

A restore tab is available to undo changes that have been previously made.

The uninstaller uses the cloud to rate installed programs. That’s however the only difference to the standard Windows uninstaller. Still, it is interesting to see the rating, which may help users remove software with low ratings.

The file shredder can securely delete files in the operating system. It offers various shred levels like quick overwriting the files, or using the Guttman 35 overwrite algorithm. Files and folders can be added easily from within the program interface.

The Hijack Log creates a HiJack This log, again with ratings from the cloud whenever available. This can aid users in detecting potentially dangerous programs and objects.

Windows Tools finally leads to various Windows control panel and system tools.

SlimCleaner shows a lot of promise. The program could use some polishing, the uninstaller for instance crashes the application on one of our test systems. All other sections worked fine though.

Specialized tools like CCleaner or Revo Uninstaller offer additional features that SlimCleaner in its current state is not offering. The cloud based rating system however is an excellent feature, even though many programs are not rated yet. This should change soon with the distribution of the software, as every user is able to rate software directly in the program.

CCleaner Enhancer is a portable program for Windows that improves CCleaner tremendously by adding 270 new programs to it. The software makes use of the custom rules capabilities and adds its rules to the existing ones.

The latest version of the program supports both portable and installed versions of CCleaner. Wiindows Vista and Windows 7 users need to run the program as administrators, as it otherwise fails to work properly.

A click on Download Latest in the main program window downloads the latest definition files and adds them to CCleaner if the program is installed. Portable users need to click on Extra > Install for Portable CCleaner to locate the ccleaner.exe manually.

CCleaner on next startup will display the additional programs under Applications. Please note that only recognized programs are listed there, programs that are not installed are not displayed in the list, even though they are supported.

A full list of all new applications that are added by CCleaner Enahncer is available in the newly created file winapp2.ini.

Among the programs are support for SRWare Iron, Yahoo Messenger, WinRAR, Windows Update Logs, Windows Live Messenger, VLC, Winamp, uTorrent, Valve Steam Logs, Gimp, SMplayer, RealPlayer SP, Quicktime, MS Visual Studio, KMplayer, IMGBurn, Foxit PDF Reader, Foobar 2000 and dozens more.

The new programs can be selected in the Applications tab in the CCleaner interface. Some are preselected while others need to be enabled first.

CCleaner Enhancer is a great addition to CCleaner. It adds value to the system cleaner. New signatures are added to the list all the time, which means that it may be a good idea to keep CCleaner Enhancer on the system after using it to add the new program signatures for the first time.

Update: Website seems to be temporarily down, you can download the portable program from our servers instead. CCleanerEnhancer, and the current definitions file. Simply unzip that file into the CCleaner directory winapp2. The program cannot connect to the host right now, it seems to be using the website of the developer for downloading the signature file.

The registry cleaner tool will scan the Windows registry for various invalid entries. Each entry is shown after the scan with the possibility to clean it up. By default a backup of the Registry will be created before any cleaning takes place. It is furthermore possible to schedule regular Registry cleanups or restore a previously created Registry backup.

The disk cleaner is a basic tool that will scan the hard drives of the computer for temporary or duplicate entries giving the user the options to delete those files from the disk. It is nowhere as extensive as tools like CCleaner offer but it covers the most widely used temporary locations.

The disk cleanup utility can be scheduled like the Registry cleaner can. Filters can be added to include or exclude certain file types from the scans. The privacy cleaner option can be used to remove several privacy related entries from the operating system. Other tools that are provided by Comodo System Cleaner are a disk wiper, a tool to calculate file crc and extensive system settings that match most Windows tweakers out there.

Comodo System Cleaner combines several important system utilities in one application. Users who are looking for tools to cleanup temporary data are currently better of with tools like CCleaner who have the advantage that they can be further customized by the user which Comodo System Cleaner cannot.

BTF Sniffer is at its core a software to display usage traces left by a user on a computer system. Unlike other tools of its kind it displays the traces that it found in its interface. The interface itself is divided into two panes: The left pane displays various types of traces, for instance Microsoft Windows, Internet and Communication or Security and Control. The right pane will display all traces of the specified category. It is important to note that traces will only be displayed for subcategories (that is always the last entry in the tree structure).

What makes BTF Sniffer special are the manipulation options. Single entries can be executed, copied, sorted, exported or deleted by right-clicking an entry. It can currently discover more than 1270 traces left by 370 software programs. Besides the obvious Microsoft Windows traces it can for example detect traces from Sysinternal software, ftp applications, web browsers and document viewers.

The software is portable which means it can be downloaded and run after unpacking it to the computer system. The major problem that English users could run into are the category descriptions but it is usually possible to identify what a category does by looking at the traces in the right pane.

Two functions need explaining. A click on Bearbeiten (Edit) in the top menu will reveal options to clear all categories (Alle Listen löschen) or only selected categories (Ausgewählte Listen Löschen). Reports can be created by clicking on Datei (File) in the top menu and selecting Vollständigen Report erstellen (Export all items in a text document) or Report erstellen (Auswahl) which means to export only the selected items.

Single traces can be manipulated and exported with a right-click. There are additional features but they are not necessary to run the program. If you have any questions about usage let us know and we provide the answers.

nCleaner is that software. I was not really sure when I read the description, one could say skeptical but I was soon convinced that nCleaner was indeed such a useful software that it will be replacing several other softwares that I have installed on my system. All that with a size of only 875 Kilobytes.

nCleaner pleasantly surprised me at first start by displaying notes and security tips for my system. It told me for instance that uPnP was enabled and that Automatic Downloads were disabled.

The main interface lists eight options, those are:

Clean System:

Lets you clean so many files and registry settings that it is hard to keep an overview. Lets you backup your registry as well which is recommended. This menu is divided into Systems & Applications and Registry. The first lists several sections like System Items, Office Applications and Internet Browsers who all have their own submenu with a lot of settings.

It is possible to add cookie exceptions and custom items. This is a comprehensive cleaner replacing CCleaner 2 on my system.

Find Junk:

Scan selected hard drives for all kind of junk – that is temporary files – and clean them. It is also possible to find empty folders, files and shortcuts. Again with the option to add more file types.

Tweak:

Two tabs listing general and privacy tweaks starting with ‘Don’t show balloon tips’ and ending with setting the max connections per server for the Internet Explorer to 10. Three profiles can be selected if you do not want to enable or disable the settings by yourself.

The profiles are Suggested, Performance and System Default.

Startup Man:

Enable or Disable items that are loaded during startup. Lists files but also registry entries, services but also system settings.

Real Time System Monitor:

Monitors the system to ensure that at least a selected amount of space if free at any given time. Cleans Temp files and others automatically when that limit is reached.

Shred Free Space:

Deletes all remaining file information on the free space of your hard drive to make it impossible to recover those files and information by normal means.

Settings:

Password protect nCleaner, select an algorithm to shred free space (Gutman 35 pass, Dod 5220.22M with 7 and 5 pass and Random with a custom amount of passes). Many more options and settings are available.

Logs:

Pretty obvious what this does, eh ?.

Ncleaner is great. Enough said. If you do not have it already go get it right now.
