Part of it is the Music Conference and Festival showcasing hundreds of artists over the course of several days. Many songs by those artists are offered as free downloads on the festival pages and as torrents.

The festival created music torrents in the last years but it seems that they decided against it in this year. Greg Hewill stepped in and created a torrent of the music offered at the South by Southwest festival which is freely available at his homepage. The release has a size of 3497 Megabytes and contains hundreds of songs.

Greg was kind enough to link to the torrents of the previous years from his homepage as well which means that you have the option to download roughly 10 Gigabytes of free music from his website. And believe me, some of the artists are amazing.

The music conference and festival takes place between March 12th and 16th 2008.
