Russian MP3 Search Engine MP3shki

MP3 search engines seem to appear by the dozen every week and about 11 of them disappear after a while either because no one uses them or because they have been sued by a record company. I have seen defenses against this. The first is to search and play only music from “legit” sources like Youtube or Last.fm, the other is to host the mp3 search engine in a country that is outside of the Western jurisdiction.

Download songs with ourTunes

I guess ourTunes is a very popular application in Universities and IT departments. It basically lets you download songs from other peoples iTunes if they are in the same network and share their itunes library. I’m not in a network and don’t use iTunes at all so I can’t test how effective this method is compared to using ftp, network browsing or local copies but I guess some will like it because it is easy to use.

20000 Euro per song ?

Server operators who happen to have songs on their servers that are distributed illegally will have to pay the fine of 20000 Euro ($28000) per song: at least in Germany according to the district court in Hamburg. Private downloaders get it much cheaper though. They only have to pay 6000 Euro for the first song, 3000 for the second, 1500 for the third and 600 for all remaining ones. A cheap bargain don’t you think ?

Download Music from Myspace Mog Imeem Last.fm..

Free Music Zilla is a great software – besides it silly name – that lets you download music from popular social music websites such as Mog, Imeem, Last.fm, Pandora, Myspace, iJigg, Radio.blog.club and many others that have not been tested yet. The simplicity makes it a great software, there is no need to be an expert anymore and look in the html source code to get some details that you need in order to download a song from myspace.

Song identification community

It’s been a long time since Wildbits started to provide an amazing and free music identification software called Tunatic which helped me many times identify a song I loved. This happened for instance when I recorded Internet radio streams without information about the artist or the song name. I bet you’ve happened to be in such situation too.
